They can balance this game until they’re blue in the face, it won’t make it fun. Until they do a complete overhaul to the god awful, boring loot in this game, there is literally no driving force to play.
How do they not understand? Nobody cares about balance in a PvE, mostly solo game. People want fun, exciting loot to chase. Chasing 2% upgrades on Rare + Aspect is BORING.
Redirect 100% of your resources to adding a significant amount of meaningful loot. Runes, Charms, Jewels, Orbs, Crystals, WHATEVER. The game needs a massive injection of loot variety. More legendary aspects isn’t it.
And the fact that they don’t even EVER mention it, as if they think this system is perfectly fine where it’s at? This dev team needs to get their heads out of the sand. Loot in this game SUCKS.

Based off last weeks campfire chat I have a hunch that they’re being quiet because that’s what we’re getting for Season 2

Sadly the devs now in charge of D4 are completely clueless about how an arpg should work and on top of that completely incompetent. This game won’t get good while they’re in charge.

It is pretty weird that they’re so heavily focused on balance in a game where the PvP is so dull that practically no one engages in it. If the PvP wasn’t so…well, like with most everything else, simplistic…I could see the focus, as it would be an end-game gameplay loop.
It’s not though.
The PvP they have never will be.
I can only guess that they’re heavily focused on balance because they want the Season to be addictive enough to keep whales roped in, without them screaming about how other classes have an unfair advantage in their race to the finish line.

I was happy to see the changes they are making in a little over a week from now. Hopefully by season 3 or so the game will have benefited from tons of new changes, content, and QoL features.
But yeah unless something has changed at Blizz HQ, they are known for their ‘Soon’ timeframes. This means expect things to be changed slowly and incrementally over time. Which is again why I and others say if you really aren’t patient and so forth just come back in about a year from release (or just pop in here and there to check it out each season).

my favorite part was them nerfing crit and vuln two weeks ago because they were over performing, or whatever terminology they use. But to “fix” barbarian they loaded them up with tons more crit damage and vuln.
like what.
the game design is so inconstant

Apparently the current dev team has no idea how to balance things at all, they nerf everything in the game by 60% or more and then follow up with the smallest buffs possible, completely ignoring the massive imbalance between not only each class, but each build. The most sad part was that one guy who kept saying he was “scared” to buff things…

Creating good content which doesn’t break everything takes time. You can’t possibly expect a new game to compete on what is now a 20 years old (with expansions) game or even a 10 year old game.
They are honing in on ideas and goals which make a lot of sense. Don’t give powers only to take others away. Reshape them in cool and fun ways instead. Allow for ‘broken’ builds within the game and meta while you keep working on balance. Reward players with exploring builds that work and that are coherent with the fantasy.
Once that’s in, then they have effectively created a sandbox which allows for a lot of good content to be created. If your sandbox rules are still not yet fully defined (they are shaped by feedback and by data and experience) then they would only be creating more problems.

Shouldn’t they have done that before releasing a premium priced game, along with a 20 buck 3 day headstart?

So you think they should balance the game, add a couple aspects, balance again, rinse and repeat?
I would much rather they just dump a whole load of new, meaningful loot and do the balancing later. Who cares if things get one shot in NMD100? Who cares if Joe Blow can 1 shot Lillith? Get the chase items and crafting systems in the game now, refine them later. It’s a PvE game. It doesn’t matter what other people can do.

Has nothing to do with PvP rather competition. Remove leaderboards and let builds be what they are.

How many hours did you get out of the game? How many systems are in there? I got a lot. I see a lot of complex systems interacting in many ways.
I am still enjoying it and will do so MUCH more once they buff my chain lightning sorc (big yay for me!)
The reality is these systems are complex and take time to adjust. They tried something in 1.1.0, it backfired. Now they are buffing in 1.1.1, people still complain. Once that is out of the way, then they can keep adding QOL features in there. Like a “keep item” system, like a search for affixes or stats in your stash/inventory, like a find a friend feature, like more items.

This game is 1.5 months old. Take a breather, let them work, come back to it in 3 months if you feel like you are not having fun. Early days my friend, still very early days.

Looks around forum, reddit, and various social media outlets where people won’t shut up about D4 class balance.
Umm…
People are indeed inordinately hung up on D4 class balance and power level. So no surprise they are addressing it first. It’s the easiest thing to address right now. Redoing gear, how damage works, and other QoL items needs a lot more designing, programming, and testing.

That’s the purpose of Malignant hearts I guess, some diversity. Though they are really working on it. Also they must prepare the Season 2.
IMHO they are still working on basic stuff to create yet a foundation that will allow us to maybe see our expectations ingame, and while our feedback can play some part on this everything looks like need being validated by data+demographics (what makes sense, but force us into stop playing to see if they will notice this).
They probably will focus on this “perfect foundation” and on get the seasonal stuff up previously to think about Itemization, Eternal, Endgame, etc. Also by the looks itemization is something a lot more bureaucratic than looks.
TLDR: If someone gets tired of chase Uber non-existants, time to uninstall…
You’re either dumb or trolling or both, what an absolutely idiotic comment lol

The cat is out of the bag.
The real truth they thought temerity was an overpowered item…
Then they added health instead of all stat and now they think it will be too op?
These are our diablo 4 devs… they really are clueless.
You know what stat would make temerity op?
30%dr while shielded
10% armor
10% damage reduction
But omg they added life bro!
Beyond op guys!
Its the perfect example of how they don’t understand their own game.
They admit temerity has issue… Which was that you need damage reduction on pants…
Then they give us life as stat on pants which admittedly is better than all stat.
But the change does not address the issue with temerity which is it sucks because it doesn’t have dr.
Just like this patch sucks because it doesn’t fix anything. It just makes it a little less sucky.
Which would be fine if it were any other patch
But this is their big 1.1.1 and it’s the best they got what a joke.

They always say what players want to hear, but in the patches, they just do their own thing. I’ll wait to see what they do, as they’ve demonstrated their word can’t be trusted.
