Could we eventually get more item types?
Ancient Items
Make these with a red border and red color beam when they drop. These could have incredible stats and be limited to one Ancient item per build. so a character could only wear one Ancient item at a time. Maybe they have like two powers that work together and also have like 8 affixes. so they would be crazy good items. They cannot be masterworked so the level of power on each affix must be greater than any greater affix gear that is masterworked 12/12. these would be items that are what they are when ya find them and cannot be modified. but they are soo good, they dont need to be modified.
They could be items that have real lore behind them and are told in stories around the land of Sanctuary. Items from Diablo’s past such as the Dreamflange or the Stormshield or Arkaine’s Valor -stuff like that.
Have them drop off anything in the game with like a one in a million kills sort of thing. so they are rare. yet also have a location where there is a higher chance to drop. like off a raid boss. create another raid dungeon set like ya did with the Dark Citadel and then have these Ancient items drop off those bosses with a greater drop rate than just in the open world. maybe 1 in 100,000 or so. that way its still really rare, but doable eventually. Perhaps have different bosses that can drop different Ancient items. At least my guild wants more raids and things to do as a guild with targeted goals and to be able to target farm items. so this idea of adding Ancient items in this way hits all those marks.
Set Items
I know the developers have previously said they would like set items to return in some way, but we had an idea on that as well. Maybe have sets that are 2, 3 or 4 - but no sets that are 5, 6 or 7 items. if sets are too large then the entire build becomes just that set and it makes all other items useless. So keep sets to a low amount of items so they dont take over the game. Maybe also limit it to one set per character build. So sets of just two items would be as powerful as a set of four items.
Sets of two -ya just get a crazy power when ya have the two items.
Sets of three -two items get ya a little power and then when ya have all three, it adds a new power or changes the two-item power to a higher level.
Sets of four would have a 2-item bonus, three item bonus and a full power bonus at four.
so larger sets get better as more items are brought in.
make these also set as is and so they cannot be ungraded in any way. no masterworking on them. They drop fully decked out and have better affixes than any GA masterworked item currently in the game. maybe these can have 6 affixes each, so they are good even on their own if you just have one item from a set.
of course these would be green border items with green color beams when they drop.
also make dungeons and places where bosses or events occur that can drop set items and let us know so we can target farm set items. Yet, also have them be able to randomly drop off anything in the game but at a much much lower drop rate. so sometimes someone might just get a lucky drop in the world and feel awesome that something kool dropped off a random enemy.
Sets should make sense -like 2 rings make a 2-set or maybe 2 rings and 1 amulet make a 3-set. 1-handed and off-hand make a 2-set. helmet and chest make a 2-set. gloves and boots and legs make a 3-set. chest, legs, helm and gloves make a 4-set and so on.
To accommodate all these new item types, we need more equipment slots on our characters. create a belt slot for all character classes. maybe make 2 more ring slots so we have four rings total (I mean we have 10 fingers, why only 2 rings in these games? -be brave, break the mold and have 4 rings slots.) plus maybe make a cape slot so all characters could be wearing a cape if they want to. also -really think that all classes should have a 2-handed weapon slot plus a 1-handed and off-hand slot. it makes no sense that the rogue gets to have 3 weapons but no one else can. why do they get the added advantage of one more power than everyone else? the barbarian makes sense to have more weapon slots as that is his character class effect. every other character should be equal in weapon and equipment slots.
So with all these added slots (rings, cape, belt and weapon slots) we could easily add in Ancient and Set items and have the classes and builds be effective and add some variety and customization to builds.
plus - maybe limit Mythic purple items to 2 or 3 per character class/build. that might help build variety also.
in the end we would have Normal, Magic, Rare, Legendary, Unique, Ancestral Leg & Unique, Mythic, Set and Ancient items in the game.
Thanx for your consideration on this.
Appreciate all that you developers do to improve the game. hope some of this helps with future ideas.
