I currently have AMD 23.7.1 software installed on my laptop. Everytime I try to launch D4 from the launcher the CPU skyrockets to >90% but the game never actually launches.
I noticed the moment I uninstalled AMD adrenalin software the game launches fine but the drivers are no longer updated. This is a massive problem that Blizzard really needs to address. This has nothing to do with firewalls or antivirus as I have all those turned off. There are no conflicting applications outside of the AMD software.
Please help, the game launched before prior to the AMD driver update.
There are reports of the AMD video capturing software causing some issues with the latest driver.
The other suggestion is to roll back the driver one version for now.
If the Adrenalin is anything like Geforce Experience, I wouldn’t even recommend it anyway, but that’s my personal preference.
I’m still running on the driver from Nvidia that was released the day before Diablo IV launched. I see no reason to update, as long as the game is playing fine.
Now those having issues, I can see them trying to update as things come out, to fix issues with how the game is played. But in this particular case, the auto update tool worked against you. And you aren’t the first case I have read about the latest driver causing issues. I suggest using the previous driver and maybe for now uninstalling the Adrenalin for the time being, if it helps to make the game play okay.
You’re not crazy Ditloo, I’m having the same issue on my AMD chipset laptop; mine has the AMD Radeon RX 6800 S. When I use the updated drivers I get the same thing; Diablo IV.exe in task manager running 80-90% system resources until I manually close it out. I tried to roll back the drivers, and D4 tells me that I need to update to the current ones…which don’t work!
Currently using AMD 23.2.1 (released 2/10/2023) downgraded from 23.7.1 (released 7/6/2023).
Same here. It was driving me nuts. I’m glad (but not glad) that I’m not the only one having this issue. My laptop went into overdrive but never launched it either. Had to end the process manually. Pretty ridiculous. No issues with any other games. Just Blizz and D4.
Are you sure it’s a Blizzard problem and not AMD? I had the latest driver update and was fine until I updated the AMD Adrenaline software, not the driver. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Diablo and discovered that something in the AMD Adrenaline software was hanging things up and causing an incomplete uninstallation, which to me points to a problem with the Adrenaline software and not Blizzard having a problem with the game
Had the same problem on brand new Omen 16 R7 6800s RX 6650M Laptop.
Rolling back drivers worked, but I found another solution weirdly. I disabled RX 6650M from device manager, then booted game. Not playable on the iGpu, but I was able to mess with settings and set it to Windowed FullScreen. I exited, then enabled 6650M again, rebooted, and it worked!
I hope it helps you as well!
I didn’t even need to mess with any settings either. Just disabled in device manager, booted diablo up, exited it, re-enabled in device manager, then restarted PC and everything is working perfectly again.
Same issue here, i’ve bought a new pc with an AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT and i can’t play Diablo 4, my cpu usage go to 100% and the game never launch.
The game works fine on the version 25.7.2 of the driver, but on the last two update it’s impossible to play (the latest update is 23.8.1).
I can’t rollback and forth between old and new versions of the drivers cause i play other games.
First thanks for the feedback,
I tried doing this change and the game launch but it was very laggy,
I notice my pc overheating and in the options i saw it did use “Amd Radeaon Graphics” instend of my “AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT” so i had to close the game
