it was all fine when i statred playing diablo 4 before season 1. all temp looks normal. and after updated the season 1 patch, then problem started popping up. cpu temp went pass 90c. and stay around 80+. there must be bug somewhere. the weird thing is looks like its’ all cpu temp. and gpu had not problem. im using my asus rog laptop with Ryzen 9 5900hx and a radeon 6800m. please help, im afraid some day the game might burn my laptop.
Can you cap your framerate to reduce the damage to your computer?
lowering fps not helping alot, but just a little better. unless i don’t play this game anymore. but that’s not the problem. the question is why is the temp normal before the season 1 patch? i assuming there is a bug?
Doubt this is bug related. Have you had your PC looked at or played other high-end games for long periods to compare?
Depending on the age of your laptop, there may be an issue with the gel that goes on your CPU - that was the solution to when I had a similar issue (but was with other games). If that’s it (you’ll know because upon removing your coolant system atop the cpu there will be crusty stuff and no gel), the gel is really cheap and easy to apply. But make sure you know what you’re doing opening the laptop (easier on desktop).
are you sure your game is set to use your 6800m vs your internal gpu? it’s worth trying this adjustment in your txt file:
open documents folder (copy and paste after pressing windows key)
%userprofile%\documents\diablo IV
Open LocalPrefs.txt
Change “Adapter” value from 0 to 1
Save file
if this fixes your issue it’s because battle.net app possibly adjusted the LocalPrefs.txt file or added more lines to it during an update and defaulted your default graphics to the internal graphics.
