Anyone else have problems with driver crashes? I have RX 6800 (Non XT) with an Ryzen 5900x. Sometimes I can play for almost 45 minutes. But more often game will crash before 10 minutes.
Most of the times it crashes it’s when loading new zones or a cutscene. But sometimes even when just running around.
When crashing I get “AMD software detected that a driver timeout has occurred on your system” message from AMD bug report tool.
I’ve tried many different resolutions, Fullscreen/Windowed, High/Low Settings. I have also tried to make a clean install with the AMD drivers and software. But no luck.
Same issue with my 6750XT. The one thing I’m going to try is uninstalling the High texture resolution package that’s installed with the game. Hopefully this will help before the open beta.
I also noticed while keeping an eye on performance that my VRAM was being maxed out. Also with my regular ram 32gb, so I’m thinking the game could have a memory leak with high textures:
I had this all the time in the early access beta (7900 xtx, 24gb vram + Odyssey G9 - 5120x1440). Tried EVERYTHING people were suggesting online (disabling mpo, disabling surface optimization, reinstalling just the driver, lowering graphics quality, fullscreen vs windowed, etc.). In the last archive dungeon I could get it to crash reliably at one specific spot.
What ended up working for me was switching from a (completely new) displayport 1.4 cable to a HDMI cable. After I did that, no more driver crashes. All other games have been working fine using displayport.
Did not keep track of my vram during all this, unfortunately, but I guess I could try again during the open beta.
Edit: To add some speculation, I think this issue is a combination of a bug within the AMD driver, and the game causing that bug to happen (through either a bug, for example vram leak, or just pushing the card/driver enough to cause it.)
Just wanted to add that before people start going completely nuts like in the “bricked 3080Ti” thread.
