Im a 37 y old man and I stand by this opinion. The cinematics is too gory for me. And talking to others I’ve heard the same feedback.
Fine that devs want it to be very dark and gritty but leave the players an option to have a bit less gory cinematics without having to skip them all together missing out on the lore.
- I don’t think anyone can be offended since its optional.
- I think more players who prefer less gory (think Lord of the Rings compared to GoT) would increase the playerbase.
That was my thought. Thanks for reading.
(Edit) Its funny how many people identify enjoying gore is the definition of manhood and the only option being unicorns and Hello Kitty. Seems like a lot of people suffer from insecurities in their manhood here. So let’s try to keep the discussion civil in the replies and again, if the “lighter” cinematics is optional, why does it bother you if you lust for blood so much? Its optional.

You’re a man?
No but seriously, they have a million things they need to prioritize over something as trivial as that. Did you play the beta? They have A LOT of work to do.

I find it pretty funny that you’re bringing this up while your username is “BruteBrutal”.
Just a comment.
On-topic though: Diablo has always been pretty gory. Diablo 1 especially. Though we are in modern times so a gore toggle might be wise accessibility-wise? Some people can’t stand it, and some people find blood all over the screen too busy to actually see what you’re doing.
I dunno.

I agree with you it would be good to have a low-violence option for the people that are young or sensitive.

No, play tetris or super mario. This is a game for adults. And no, they won’t record two types of cinematics just so snowflakes don’t get scared lmao.

I’m fine with it, but only if the option turns blood and gore into colorful confetti.
That’s called Whimsyshire.

I know, and I am suggesting that those who choose the option are canonically cursed by Whimsyshire.
Which is funny to me, as it would likely come off as madness, from a lore perspective…seeing as how they would likely slaughter gleefully.

I would argue that would make the game even more mature. I’d be a bit scared of a guy slaughtering demons, only to find out they see it as confetti from their PoV.

Your suggestion is valid, but I disagree. The whole premise of Diablo games is that they are dark and gory. This game series may not be for you if you dislike the gore.

Indeed so!
From a lore perspective, very…but those who want their eyes pure get to keep it that way, hah.
Download the Chinese version if the gore freaks you out. Perhaps ‘Hello Kitty’s Island Adventure’ is more to your tastes and sensibilities?

Completely disagree. The more gore the better. This is Diablo not some care bear game

I really hope they put Whimsyshire in so I can watch all the edgelords melt down over it on the internet

LOL… my god , Please Blizzard do not listen to people like the OP… Less gory are you serious? This is how Diablo is meant to be , Dark and Gloomy , With Blood and Guts all over the World…
Stick to Diablo 3 with it’s Teddy bears and unicorns.

Other games have had a “less gore” option - one I can think of off the bat is the Baldur’s Gate series. So this is OLD tech. Granted, their visuals were a lot cruder so easier to tweak.
But, I’m all for giving the players as much control over their entertainment as possible. Shouldn’t be too hard to put up some fuzzy filters over the truly horrific stuff - like the flailed man. That was pretty brutal.

It’s not even that gory, what are you smoking?

I am completely for adding a “no gore / less gore” option if it means that we can expand the Diablo universe to more players
I personally think this is the best game ever because it is so dark, but I can absolutely undestand your reason and I think it should be respected
Edit
And seriously. Be nice to the man, there is no harm in having the option. It does not take away yours or mine ability to enjoy all the gore we want.
Let the devs decide if they want to add this or not.
No need to be so mean about it

Then this is not the game series for you.
I hear Hello Kitty Island Adventure is gore free. Sounds right up your alley.

I’m going to buy a game that’s known for being dark and gory, then complain that it’s dark and gory.
Next, I’m going to watch a horror movie and complain that I got scared.
Then, I’m going to take off my clothes in the middle of winter and stand in my yard and complain that I’m cold.
Maybe later, I’ll take a shower and then complain that I got wet.
