Alt Tab problem - game crashes when I alt tab

SOLUTION TO PROBLEM (by Schutzy):

If I launch the game now and it puts me in queue, if I Alt-Tab to desktop it will throw an error and simply kill the Diablo 4 software.

I am on Nvidia 1080 latest drivers. I play “Fullscreen” with 1440p, windows is set to 2160p.

Anyone else having this problem?

Is it possible the client updates threw your settings back to fullscreen windowed? because it did with mine.

Its still Fullscreen nonwindowed as I see the behavior of it launching and when it switches back to desktop. It does the “laggy thing”.

Except it just crashes when it returns to desktop.

It worked ok last week.

I think Nvidia driver update from yesterday broke it.

It’s not the new driver update, mine behaves the same and I did not update to the newest driver. It did not crash last week on alt tab

But now, for me, with newest driver, it crashes.

Yeah, it didn’t crash last week for me neither but it crashes now, I have the same driver as last week :wink:

Sorry, I missunderstood your post.

So you are getting same behavior as me, I am very sorry for both of us, but at least I am not alon in this boat :smiley:

No worries :slight_smile: I hope they just messed something up that crashes because the beta was not up, but perhaps we are not allowed to minimize our games then :E

Having the same issue, alt tabbing consistently crashes the game. (1080ti)

No way to stay in queue and alt-tabbing, that is very troublesome.

Same issue here, 3070.

Delete the Diablo 4 Folder in your Documents Folder. Start again and its not crashing the game anymore. :innocent:

Oh wow! That works - I’m guessing because it’s reset the game to fullscreen windowed mode. I would guess changing it to dedicated fullscreen again will cause it to crash again… We’ll see once I’m through the 61 minute queue.

Let us now if changing to dedicated Fullscreen will bring alt-tab crashes back. Im not gonna try it :slight_smile:

Yeah, if I turn off my monitor while I’m in the queue, it crashes the application. Same thing happened last weekend.
