All the good changes in S4 for nothing, terrible outlook for Season 5

There are core problems that are too serious for season 5, I notice a brutal setback for what is to come, it seems as if nothing was learned from the mistakes of the past, these are my points:

1.- New unique gear is created in absurd quantities every season without fixing the vast majority that already exists that are useless and pure garbage, The Lucion helm is an example of bad design and lack of originality, instead of giving us unique mechanics and Interesting synergies give us a series of new uniques that are pure generic power creep killing all the existing uniques, the truth is that I do not understand this terrible setback in itemization, basically everything that progressed in Loot Reborn in season 4 is being destroyed.

2.- The terrible balance of the classes, it is incredible that after 4 season there are immense problems in the balance, skills that are useless, lack of synergy between skills, unique gear with terrible designs, aspects that are very weak and do not help, There are classes like the sorceress or the druid that feel like they don’t work, they feel very clunky, like many of their skills and synergies don’t work, the skill tree doesn’t generate creativity and everything feels limited and short.

3.- Systems without sufficient rewards, the demand for gold and materials is increasingly absurd and we are always suffering all the time because of it, the amount of gold that disappears in seconds is crazy, but the main problem is the lack of reward, When you spend materials and gold without achieving the goal, whether in rerolls or masterworking, for example, you can spend 200 million without obtaining anything useful in a few minutes, it feels terrible, especially for casuals, that a week’s farming did not reward you at all. , it is very common to feel that there are items that you will never be able to obtain what you need no matter how much time and resources you use and that is increasingly common.

4.- Tempering, basically this system has taken away all the emotion from the drop, because you can no longer get excited if you drop that beloved item with the 3 greater afixx that you need, since the system has a high chance of turning it into a garbage item , this feeling is terrible for both casuals and streamers, the magic of farming is lost and you already have that feeling where that great item can become garbage.

Greetings

Many things are afwul, and the truth is I don’t see how they fix them, there are very serious problems that are not being solved.

Blizz: “we will not make it like D3 where players can deal trillions of damage”
Also blizz: “this helm gives u 300000% dmg increase. this ammu gives u 500000% dmg increase.”

Yeah odd team needs to take off their earbuds and stop staring at phone when there is a meeting…

Yea a lot changes for season 5 is like contrary to the philosophy that was created in Loot Reborn, it is as if everything good that was done was suddenly thrown into the trash.

I believe there are some serious management problems at blizz
The gaulet was delayed for so long and it was released like another nightmare dungeon
Holy bolt was not fixed until one months later and then it was disabled for a few days
Goblin event dropped 800 ipower and needed hotfix
And this s5 clown fiesta

These are not that difficult to fix but it seems blizz is completely disconnected. Maybe the acquisition has caused a mess and no one is capable of decision making? One day, blizz is going down as a case study for business school lol

Yeah bew uniques seems cool at first until you rember the amount of crap ones we already have. Fix them for gods sake.

I agree with point 1-3.
But not at all with point 4. I like tempering really much and I think that it has improved D4 a lot.

Yeah they nerfed the difficulty on live but now the pit is 100x harder in PTR. No idea wtf is going on at Blizz HQ but its obvious no one talks to each other there,

I agree with all of this.

I also want to add that pressing “upgrade” 12 times on a piece of gear, especially when you know what the end result is (given enough time to reset it and start over) before you even begin, is boring and doesn’t change the way I play the game at all.

On top of this, running the pit over and over is probably the least interesting thing I can think of to do in the game. It just feels like I’m running the same content repeatedly with zero variation outside of “sharpshooter vs. no sharpshooter.” It actually made me wish nightmare dungeons also gave the masterworking materials because at least the variation is a little better there, even if it has its own repetition problems.

I dunno, ARPGs can be more fun. There’s just too much copy/paste and asset/mechanic reuse. Path of Exile’s game modes turn the game on its head, and each mode feels very unique. I don’t expect Diablo 4 to have the same quantity of modes that PoE does, but each mode should at least match the quality and depth of an F2P game.

This new horde mode in the PTR looks like an event to me. It doesn’t feel unique at all.

Between Titan Quest 2, Grim Dawn’s new expansion, No Rest for the Wicked, Last Epoch and PoE 2, there are lots of choices of games to play for aRPG fans.

They said:

“There will be no power creep in Diablo IV”
“You can play your own way”

Both not true as of late. Power creep is here and we still can’t play our own way.
God forbid you veer away from the “meta”. You will be powerless, dying left and right, unable to experience any part of the so called “end game”.

I don’t even know if it was ever true that you could play your own way.

Sorcerer:

  • Launch: Play melee builds and builds that required being close to your enemies. Top builds were actually Arc Lash and Firewall, right? Anything iconic like Chain Lightning or Frozen Orb was crap, but even the “good” builds were crap, so nothing was really viable. But what makes Launch a huge failure for Sorcerer is that it royally messed up the fantasy.
  • Season 1: Same, but nerfed even more… for no reason.
  • Season 2: Ball Lightning was bugged/broken, so if you wanted to play a Sorcerer, you had to play Ball Lightning. Still can’t play your own way lol, but at least you can play it now.
  • Season 3: No idea, stopped caring. I wanted to play, though, and Blizzard didn’t incentivize it, so in a way, couldn’t play my own way lol.
  • Season 4: Still underpowered at 80+ tier pits compared to other classes. Still locked into Flame Shield and Ice Armor in order to survive. Best unique is still the one that makes you run faster when you evade lol.
  • Season 5: I can’t imagine anything being good with all of these nerfs to the shields. We’re already underpowered as it is. Hydra buffs feel like they are trolling. Their balancing is a total fail at this point.

What I want is to pick a class and start picking some skills, and as long as I pick rational gear, paragon, and skill tree choices, the build should work similarly to other builds. Diablo 4 is not so complex of a game—we are nowhere near Path of Exile, let’s keep it real. There is no reason the devs can’t balance all designed builds and classes to be similar. If you can’t balance crit chance and vulnerability with overpower where all the bonus damages are additive and where resistances and armor are capped across all 5 classes, you probably should be fired and find a new occupation you are more well suited to.

I 100% agree. I can not believe how they totally destroyed any fun of the sorc class. They do not want us to have fun. I am not going to pay another cent on anything blizzard til they make sorc fun again. Season 4 was “OK” not great, but decent for sorc’s in terms of fun, but still nowhere near the buffing of the other classes. Now season 5 they have once again taken every ounce of fun out of the sorc and made it a NOTHING class. But barbs can run around with 500k HP with insane damage and its totally fine. UNINSTALLING AND GETTING A REFUND ON EXPANSION PRE-ORDER TODAY.

No it never became reality. A mantra that was coined by Brandy Camel back in 2018 or 2019. Or at least that’s who I heard it from for the first time. Can’t remember if it was around the time loot 2.0 came to Diablo III or not.
Regardless, it didn’t happen in Diablo III, it’s not happening in Diablo IV either.
Poor sods like me who are really trying to stick to a fantasy, a unified theme stand no chance. These days, if you don’t play with a calculator in hand, a spreadsheet on a side monitor and a video guide on another, you’re doomed.

Would not say s4 changes were “good” they were just not horrible. First 3 seasons kind of set your expectations a bit low because the changes in s4 fixed nothing. IT was just another carrot on the stick that you finally get to the carrot just to find out its really a turd painted orange.

100% this. I want to be able to realistically play the game myself, not having to scour the web for some builds benefiting from broken interactions because I’m stuck and can’t progress any further, due to poor game design.

Wudijo who almost always positive about game, seemed really frustrated by the PTR because it’s such a senseless mess.
