All of the downsides of online play with none of the benefits

So the interviews are coming out and it turns out that there’s no plans for an in-game AH or a SSF mode. That means that we still can’t trade without major friction (like going on 3rd party sites and dealing with scammers). We can’t have fair ladders vs. other SSF players either because all of the top spots are taken by streamers and their friends.

Instead, we have forced grouping coming in VoH. Seriously, who asked for this?

Everybody except for dinosaurs stuck in 2 decade old platstyles.

Ssf is a thing of past. Collaborated runs are way more fun. As crude as RPG in D3, its group meta is what kept its server alive.

Group runs definitely the way to go. Pub runs are toxic. Cant pause/committ to group is problematic but these are up to individuals & communities to resolve. There are many established clans & communities from various non blizzard games let alone reputable coms from wow/d3 & possible D2 / relevant discord servers.

Bottom line is dark citadel isnt a compulsory content, its a group centric content similar to hated grounds centric to pvp fans. Who thinks pvp is essential? Hence dark citadel isnt essential for solo or non group players.

Just because its new doesnt make it compulsory.

Do you have meaningful citations for that? I’m just curious. I was 100% solo in D3 (except local co-op at times) until practically the last 2 proper seasons…, and even then I stuck to solo bc I wasn’t pushing 150 & it’s simpler that way.

D2 I couldn’t imagine going back to solo once I discovered closed Bnet. Just too boring. But that’s a game 100% compatible with solo.

SSF has its place, and has its benefits. People should maybe not feel a grudge when it hasn’t been implemented yet, in a game that’s still realistically in Early Access… but it’s not a thing of the past, and I think that’s a pretty silly argument.

Could’ve sworn devs dropped hints that Citadel will be soloable once you’re fully geared up, and is merely “optimized” for groups.

While I don’t agree with mandatory grouping for any content I do agree with this. Yes the Dark Citadel is definitely not ideal for the moment, but I get the feeling they may make some changes to it come S7 or S8. I could be wrong though.

For now we all know it’s coming regardless of the public outcry against it. Blizzard wouldn’t just suddenly scrap a brand new system they’ve been working on for the past year due to some disgruntled customers. Instead it’ll come out, people will try it, they’ll get real feedback (not impulsive reactions), and make changes accordingly.

I wonder how long it will take for the crying to start on the forum that the Citadel takes too much time to complete.

Kindly, f off. Collaborated runs may be fun for YOU bout I certainly despise them.

Exactly this. Blizzard is experimenting with D4 to include as many modes for different type of players. Pit is proven overfocused towards solo is negative. Maybe citadel is same and tweaked with patches. The game for sure over emphasised on solo in terms of gameplays and rewards group play too much regarding boss runs / summoning mats usage.

We asked for group synergy between classes and a mode allowing collaboration to sparkle. Not a way to carry leechers/leeching in groups.

Elite supports will make the push 10 folds simpler. If you follow elite zbarb instructions, you can clear rifts up to 30 tiers higher by boosting effective dps & minimize time wastage on negative progression mobs. Dps makes the lower cap, zbarb makes the upper cap in D3.

D4 can be played coordinated too but class skills really handicaps efficient usage of mob densities and in pov of pit/hoards, density generation. There are some density generating builds out there but nothing matches D3 zB. Fighting a pack of 500 mobs is way more efficient than fighting a pack of 3 mobs.

Same, but right now we don’t know how mandatory it will be. Also they are giveing solo players a new content also, the Undercity, which can be close to the level of rewards of the Citadel. Right now I think people are afraid that the scroll of retempering is going to be exclusive to the co-op dungeon, but that was adressed by Adam on twitter. Only thing remaining exculise is the experience of playing the content, and cosmetics. It always boils down how rewarding the content is based on how difficult it is.
