I have Gamepass Ultimate and have been using my PC to play D4 mostly. finally hit “end-game” and decided to grab the DLC. I found a great deal for the UE but on Xbox. After reading Reddit, I read that if you have the UE on one platform, as long as your Battle.net is linked it shares your progress (like Cross-Save). I also saw someone ask the mod/dev in the thread if they bought UE on 1 platform can they get the benefits on another platform and was replied with the Rule that as long as you have a D4 License per platform you can access your “Account”. I took this to mean all content.
I now have redeemed the Xbox Game Code on my Microsoft Account through the Xbox App and can confirm nothing has changed in-game when launching the game from BNet Launcher and the Xbox App on PC.
I can see my Microsoft Account “recent purchases” section has D4 UE listed and read that it says “cannot install on this PC/Device”.
Am I the Idiot for thinking this would work or is Blizzard just being Blizzard ?
P.S.: I dont have an Xbox Console.
You missed some stuff in your research. Your progress IS cross-platform, but you can only access VoH content on platforms that you own it for.
Check the refund conditions. You probably qualify.
Redeemed Code. So I dont think it qualifies for a refund.
Thanks for the help. I have to conclude that the DLC is probably also a License that is platform based.
So when dealing with “redeemed codes” if it does not say Xbox/Windows key it is for XBox only. This is something you need to be aware of if you are going to use sites that resell keys in any fashion.
Reddit is also not an official Blizzard response, neither is anyone here (me included) unless it is in Blue. These are just other people who play/bought (or just simply hate 
) the game.
Blizzard is guilty of many things like “stealing your season 3 battlepass cosmetics and calling it a bug”. But this is not their fault there are certain keys made only for certain platforms.
Cmon, if you saw D4 UE for $35, would you get it or pass? I let my greed blind me and now I’m punished. 
I saw it on a “site” for like $40 during the last Blizzard sale and I bought Ark Survival Ascended instead from the Steam Spring sale.
I understand it comes with 30 plat so it is like $10 (or $5 in your case)…but still not worth it to me, until the game improves. But yes I do understand how someone would rationalize a lower price, I almost did buy it and talked myself into getting something I am enjoying a lot more now.
I am the absolute worst person (on here) to ask about buying the expansion.
I am literally not happy with their decisions and see no reason to give them more money. I can play the version I have and reach most content so it really does not matter for me, I have seen the cinematics. Plus I know as more time passes the more it’s price will drop, it will get bundled in with the next expansion as well. But until the game improves it is not worth it at any cost for me.
But my point was you need to be extra careful about the platform when keys are sold or gifted.
On the other hand, I know you said you don’t own an xbox console…but if you were to get one this key would work and your GPultimate should carry over to there for the base game. But that is like like digging deeper once you are in a hole.
Chalk it up to “learned lessons”.
Also noteworthy, buying an xbox is pointless now, even used…in the next generation of consoles they will not be competing.
It doesn’t come with the awesome art coffeetable book? Or the Lilith candle? Or the demon print?
It’s just cosmetics, right?
If so, I wouldn’t buy it for 3.50$

I honestly like D4. I sometimes just watch plex/yt whilst I game so I dont mind mindless games like D4. Sometimes you just want to turn off your brain and not have to focus on story/objectives. I used to play tons of MMORPGs to get that fix (just run around farming mobs/mats mindlessly) So you’re talking to someone that kind of is fine with it. I got into D4 for “free” since I was already GPultimate then when I hit Lv60 and things just got braindead I’ve just been farming loot while catching up on missed shows.
I read a smidge about the hate for D4 and I’m only P-170 and stuck on T2 till I get better gear. I guess when I get my first Mythic I’ll probably feel the same; right now the Loot-Hunter in me is excited for a Mythic and I think thats whats driving me to continue playing all this repetition.
