AFK farming (easy solution inside)

It Seems as tho AFK farming might be a thing in Diablo 4, We’ve seen how monsters can and do respawn, making it very easy for a summon necro to just park in some place where monsters respawn and just go afk for an hour and come back to loads of loot.

Please just make all items disappear within 5-10mins of being on the ground, so at best afk farming yields you 5-10mins of drops.

If the necro is sitting at the computer and reading a book still ok, though?

Mobs don’t respawn that quickly from what I noticed so I’m not too worried about this. I do think loot should despawn after a while though, I’ve noticed players dropping their garbage all over the place in the beta and nearly died on my HC character because I was picking up look when trying to do something else because of it lmao.

Bind force move to something and learn to use that instead if left click. Especially on hc.

Problem solved.

But yeah loot should despawn after a little bit.

You have given tools to use in the future when im bored in low zones though

im ok with that, but i believe the game shouldn’t make it so easy to afk farm. and simply putting a timer on items on the ground is a super easy solution.

If i can park my necro somewhere while i go to out for 2hours and come back 24 respawns worth of loot, im going to do it, im going to Hate that i feel the need to do that, its going to feel cheesy AF, but i WILL do it.

How about you stop looking for problems where there are no problems? If people wanna AFK farm, let them.

I#ve seen enough necros sitting on event spawns ^^. I hope Blizz makes this a bannable practice and not just for 24h.

Anything automated technically is. Ie you not physically pushing the buttons.

Will they do anything about it is one question.

Do we care and why, with there being no market is the other.

I think its dumb, but it doesnt impact me so i really dgaf.

In seasons… sure i can see it being an issue and something that should be taken a bit seriously. Until then… doooo not care.

I dont want to afk farm, but damn ill feel like im lossing out on so much if i dont! so ill have too…

This is my thought on the matter. It really means nothing. If they afk farm in 5 hours what I can farm in 15 minutes, is it really an issue? Probably costs the guy more to run his computer than he’s saving on time.

Yeah but as soon as a thorns Necro/pet Necro or thorns Barb is afk farming people will get pissed that’s why I want some kind of solution to stop this from happening because I don’t want pet and thorns builds nerfed  .

Make it bannable would help to make people think twice about doing it.

Only arguement would be seasons and getting (very minimal) exp while afking.

Which over time could add up a bit, but really would be trivial.

It is bannable, as i said.

True, but we don’t know what people will be competing for in the seasons yet. But I imagine the “afk farming” will yield such little results no one would know whos doing it unless witnessed, because they won’t be so far ahead it seems unfair lol. If it’s high difficulty dungeons or something like that. They would need some game changing drops for it to matter. and I don’t see them killing 30 mobs in 8 hours making that change. Any streamer or other gamer with excessive time to play will already be far ahead of any afk farmer. So there is no advantage gained anywhere really.

Why should it be? Minions are Ai controlled it’s theri job to kill stuff while the necro stands beside. Thorn builds if geared properly can kill everything without using a skill just… standing there. Being afk isn’t bannable as well, playing the game like it is intended aka letting the pets/thorns do their job isn’t bannable as well. With this setup you don’t have to automate anything and you can play the game by standing there and watching mobs die 24/7.

That’s why I said I want Blizz to make it a bannable offence… officialy so noone can talk smack.

My money and edcuated guess is nm dungeon rank and clear times…

The D4 version of grs.

its really hard to say if its going to lead to a trivial advantage, as you speculate.
in the beta afk farming that 1 lvl 35 monster was hands down the best thing to do with your time. probably wont be that for the full game but still i think your minimizing the issue.

my friend is high off his axx day dreaming about how his thorns barb is going to just afk farm all nigh every night.

i dont want to have to leave my character logged in because of FOMO

Standing and farming 1 monster spawn end game will not > speed wrecking dungeons.

The only reason that was good was because it was the highest level monster in the content and could drop the highest gear attainable, at that point. He will be entirely forgotten and ignored come release. At 100 you want quantity of kills per hour to increase odds of getting sacred drops.

At 100, ripping nm dungeons will > afk farming 1 mob.

With that next comes how do you know right?

Ive done it.

as I stated previously anyone AFK farming for long periods of time is going to fall far behind the people actually playing. People who AFK farm are people who have jobs and feel they need to AFK farm to keep up. They don’t AFK farm to get ahead. The people playing 12 - 16 hours daily (streamers, basement dwellers, etc) are the ones AFK farmers are trying to keep up with. But the fact is If you sit in one spot for 8 hours you won’t get even 10% of what someone playing for 8 hours gets, and sure you can say they play 8 hours after AFK farming for 8. But the people playing 12 - 16 hours are still far ahead.

i can do both tho ( and will feel forced to do so)
we have to sleep dont we???

why log out while you sleep, just setup your afk farm and get 5% more drops.
