I think that all Legendary Aspects could potentially be added to the Codex at their minimum rolled values when you first find them; not just those Aspects you currently find as guaranteed drops in specific dungeons.
I find that I’m just hoarding Aspects in my inventory as I level up, avoiding imprinting them on my items because I’ll probably replace all my items with an upgrade soon, not just my weapon/s.
Say, I find a 30% Rapid Aspect early on, and I would benefit greatly from a boost to basic attack speed, but the item it’s attached to has garbage/irrelevant stats, so I extract it. Why would I imprint this on anything while I’m levelling up? Maybe it’s easy to find this again in the end game, but I don’t know this as a new player. It’s just gonna sit in my inventory until I get lucky and find a duplicate of this Aspect, at which point I will feel like I can afford to imprint one of them.
If a 15% Rapid Aspect was also added to my Codex, then I could use that instead, and hold onto the 30% for later. There’s still a cost associated with imprinting it, as well as the inevitable loss of the item it’s imprinted upon when I replace it, so I don’t think it’s a freebie.
Maybe some people will think this would be too generous, but I’d like to see a change of this kind, or something similar, because I’d like to use the Aspects I find while levelling — and if I do imprint an extracted Aspect, I’d like to be able to use it for longer, by imprinting it more than once on upgraded items, even if only at the minimum values.
Well, I did find out I could recycle imprinted aspects and extract them again. If it’s intentional, then it’s a great quality of life thing. If a bug, make it a feature lol.
How do you do recycle them?
You go to the enchanter. There’s an option to extract legendary powers. It worked for me yesterday on powers that I had imprinted on old gear.
I just tried this now, but I was not able to extract the imprinted Aspect. Maybe it was a bug, or it has something to do with item level.
Interesting, was the imprint you tried to extract one from the codex? Or from inventory?
From the inventory. Specifically, Snowvield Aspect imprinted on a level 32 item.
I’ll give it another go when I get online, won’t be for a few hours though.
I was able to retrieve an imprinted shockwave via extraction, so, not too sure what the go is.
Thanks for that. It’s possible that it’s allowed under a certain item level.
Seems I lucked into a random thing, which is sadness.
I disagree, I find it at least somehow exciting when finding a legendary that isn’t in the codex, let’s you still chase after something in the game and not having everything on a plate…
Do you play a build that requires an Aspect not found in the Codex to function? Because I can tell you as a Rapid Fire Rogue, it’s maddening to not be able to upgrade gear for tens of hours simply because Repeating Aspect (that doesn’t even guarantee my Rapid Fire will Riccochet) isn’t in the Codex.
Then you grind with a different build or without the aspect, what can I say? I don’t want to play a game where, choose your build, here’s all you need to make it function, go and play… And yes, I play Necro, he has actual uniques AND aspects that gatekeep your builds.
If you’re complaining about Necro, then maybe sit down.
Fully agree. Lvl 71 and there are two aspects (stacking minion attack speed and +damage stacks on next core skill after using a corpse) for which I’ve only found one copy of each… even with spending all my blue money gambling fetishes to target offensive mods.
Seems unreasonable to essentially have to find two copies of an aspect before you’re allowed to use one of them on a non-endgame rare base.
