I would prefer in a future expansion for them to give us 2 more skill slots.
I think builds are too cookie cutter if they are all forced to have ult. It’s much more interesting with extra skill slots you can have anything in.
Add 2 more skill slots in first expansion I think is best thing to do. I think it would be the best way to increase power in line with what players want and feedback given.
Explain how an entire game would have to be rebalanced because you have an ultimate only button? It’s hard to say what the end game brings but in the beta. The Ultimates to me clearly weren’t worth it. In certain situations yes, I suppose they did ok. In overall performance it’s better to not spec into them. I just see the ultimates being a waste of space unless they’re given a major buff or it’s own skill button.
Not wanting an additional button to press? That’s kind of a weak argument to not have an additional ability to use, plan and adapt to situations. Sounds more like a lazy response…
From playing Diablo 4 the 6 skills itself was very underwhelming and the ultimate abilities felt extremely weak. That’s why I wanted to give my feedback to improve the ultimates. I guess we will see how they perform in the end game.
Chances are this would make end game balancing a total nightmare , let’s not get into pvp … nah leave it the way it is. The game has enough broken dmg outputs atm lol.
Because you have another skill. That opens up even more build options as well as balancing the game around the fact that EVERYONE would be using an ultimate. Boss fights would be balanced around the expectation of Ultimate usage, because they know everyone would have it available. Cooldowns would change because it’s 7 skills instead of 6.
You won’t even get an option not to use one. You would be expected to use an ultimate of some sort and the game would be balanced around using ultimates.
Unless you think the game shouldn’t be rebalanced and it’s just a simple add. That’d just be clear power creep before the game even launches.
I wanna know what 7th skill is so good it’s going throw off game balance so much. Especially since it’s going to be practically useless without skill investment which would then make your other skills less powerful.
And with the ability to switch out skills any time you want, why not just have a shift/alt/ctrl toggled bar available? Why make the players stand there and swap out skills, or kite around enemies while skill swapping?
Stop making the fun parts of your game so hard to have fun with, Blizzard.
What actually ruined the game was Jay Wilsons Version of Cool Downs Use This skill to Cool This skill downIt’d be better to go back toDiablo 2’s Skill Set Up But with Jay Wilsons WoW team in charge that’s not gonna happen
you are assuming by the end of game it wont be cooled down quicker. hopefully it wont be a d3 cooling down extreme right away, but i would be surprised if there isnt a wat to cut in half by level 50 or something
They should’ve removed 1 static button and made it fluid so we could hotkey other skills and utilize them without them needing to be on the bar all the time, even if it is restricted to things you have real skill points in.
They should’ve done SOMETHING to change up the skill bar interaction and build constraints from D3. The fact that they didn’t do anything in that regard speaks volumes.
they either need to superbuff the ultimates or cut their cooldowns to like 1/2 or 1/3 of what they are.
Those abilities don’t feel “ultimately” in any way. They are mostly weak, mediocre abilities on superlong cooldowns.
I am all for adding more skill slots.
But NOT a skill slot specifically for Ultimate skills. That would be terrible, as it means you would always want to have an Ultimate in a build. Ultimates should compete for the same skill slots as all the other skills.
Also, class mechanisms should have their own dedicated buttons outside the skill slots.
Technically you need to put points into a basic skill, but you dont need to have a basic skill in your skill bar. So that is a significant difference.
Albeit, I do think it should be possible to not having to add points to a basic skill.
It might be better just to add active passives to the ultimate skills while they are on the hotbar. That way extra buttons are not needed but the skill slot the ultimate takes up is not wasted when on cool down. The same concept could be applied to any other skills with a long cool down.
D3 didnt do much right, but making sure that some passive buffs had an active component, like auras and mantras, was a very good thing. This would be a bit of the same, just from the other direction.
Heck, make the passive bonus scale with how long the actual cooldown is, so if you focus heavily on cooldown reduction, to use the skill more, you get a weaker passive out of it.
hard to realize while you have stuff like twisting blades or other cd reductions, that basicly make ultimates spammy in some cases.
But i like the idea, makes the non cooldown reduction builds more interactive, and viable.
EDIT: nvm you had the same stuff goin to your mind ;D
