I never thought I would see the day the game just works on Linux. I bought the game twice, cuz I want my wife to play. I got the steam version for her. Booted a steam deck and it just installs and plays. Yes it’s proton but I watched the output and how it runs in ram and it acts like it runs natively. It’s throwing a LOT less errors and not leaking ram like d3 still does to this day. I wish you’d fix d3 but meh I’ve moved on.
For the uninitiated, the way programs run on *nix are vastly different than how they run on Windows. It’s like a Linux game that runs via an exe launcher. The executable doesn’t matter. I’m willing to bet they designed the game for ps5 and built versions of the game for all the different systems based on that code, which is totally fine by me.
If you’re having issues on Windows with the game, try running it in Linux (Ubuntu or something easy) with steam and proton. I get like 40% performance boosts on Linux and all the stuttering is just simply gone.
