I want to start by congratulating the entire Diablo IV team! I’m really looking forward to the next DLC.
I bought Diablo IV when Vessel of Hatred was released, but I only started playing during Season 7.
I’m blind, and starting to try a new game is always stressful. I didn’t know if Diablo IV had accessibility features that would work for me. You can’t imagine how happy I was when I saw all the accessibility options available in the game.
I’m writing to suggest a few features that would help me and others with similar needs. Maybe some of these are already available, or if there’s a workaround, please let me know.
Note: I’ve been playing on console (PS5).
Accessibility Suggestions
- Navigation via Menu: I’d love the ability to navigate to a waypoint or teleport location using a menu, rather than relying on the map cursor, which is really hard to use. Sometimes I prefer to walk rather than try to find the teleport icon.
- Team Leader Tracking: I can’t use the minimap for navigation. A feature to select a team leader as my destination would help me follow them in dungeons and in the Pit—especially if I could follow using directional ping sounds.
- GUI Hiding Option: I can’t use any information from the game GUI. It would be great to have an option to hide elements like chat, skill bars, the minimap, and on-screen text.
- Skill and Ultimate Alerts: I’d like to set a sound cue for when a skill or ultimate (e.g., “Suprema”) is ready. A vibration on the shoulder button or use of adaptive triggers to signal this would also help.
- TTS Improvements at the Occultist: When interacting with the NPC who changes legendary aspects, it would be more helpful if the TTS only read the aspect description, rather than the entire item details.
- Minion Count Audio Cue: I’d like a way to hear how many minions I have, instead of needing to ask someone else to check the icons for me.
- Boss Battle Report: Since I can’t see how much damage I deal, I’d like a post-battle report to give me an idea of my performance.
- Boss Health Indicators: An audio cue for boss health levels (e.g., sounds for 75%, 50%, 25%, and 10%) would be very helpful. If bosses have healing mechanics, a sound indicating that would be great too.
- Paragon Tree Navigation: A shortcut to quickly move between glyph slots in the Paragon Tree would be helpful.
- Glyph Selection at Pit End: When a glyph appears at the end of a Pit run, having the TTS read the name right away would make it quicker to choose.
- Directional Arrow Visibility: The arrow that shows direction could be larger and have a black border for better visibility.
- Ping Guidance via Vibration: An option to guide navigation using controller vibrations—vibrating in the direction I need to go—would be a great alternative to sound pings.
- Player Name Reading Delay: When the TTS reads a player’s name, it would be nice if it waited a bit before repeating it again.
I probably have more suggestions, and I’ll come back with them later.
Thanks a million!
