It seems that users can gang on somebody and abuse the report system. I’m getting code 44 in all chat. Just because some users were annoyed by my friendly banter in trade chat. It seems they collectively used the report, and I’m banned from all chat, even with my friends. These kind of people should be banned from chat because they can’t take a light joke, and take offense on everything. This kind of people ruin everything for everyone, and the social aspect of this game is already in apparent decline because of them. It’s not only encroaching on gameplay, but free speech in general. Who is to decide their decision was right and my banter was wrong? All it takes is for them to be collectively triggered, and be united in their conformity. I never in 5 years of using battle.net never once used the report system on anyone, and people did say some pretty nasty stuff, much nastier then friendly banter, I just can’t take it seriously, and these people are obviously too serious for this game and life in general. No, instead I get punished who at least tried to put some life into already dead chat, where people mostly write “LFG DURIEL ROTA”. See who reported me and reasons why, don’t allow these automatic systems to punish users who are at least trying to make chat a bit livelier and instead rewarding these salty pricks. Chat is a big problem in Diablo 4, no conversations at all, only lifeless generic inquiries about boss farming. Don’t punish me, punish these people who think they are above all reason, and who think their collective voices can submit others to their conformist lifestyle, who think they can silence others in “will to power” because of their own deficiencies. It’s unfair to say the least, it’s absolutely bonkers.
Your best option is to just not even say anything in General chat at all.
I gave up on participating in General chat clear back in the days of D3 during the AH days. It has NOT improved, and most likely won’t.
If you decide you must interact, be prepared to deal with the consequences, even if its not warranted.
I hate to put it out there like that, but its no different in Overwatch. You are always better off simply not saying anything.
Just the other night, instead of playing some players were trying to goof around, and naturally they have inflammatory game tag names on top of it.
I know I got reported, simply for ignoring them and playing the game (by shooting the other team to win).
But because I didn’t say anything, it wasn’t enough to mass report/ban me, thankfully.
Ugh.
Social aspects of games today just plain suck.
I can live without seeing “LFG DURIEL ROTA” in the chat 24/7,it’s absolutely no loss on my part, very seldom somebody said something funny or interesting, but banning me from communicating with my friends because of a few shadow projecting cretins who can’t take friendly banter is absolutely insane. Somebody needs to look into this, we can’t allow this evil to reign and silence everyone. I think this must be some automatic system, it needs to have human supervision, because if there was somebody reasonable there, they’d see the report was largely exaggerated. It’s not my fault somebody has so fragile ego they absolutely can’t look past it, or had a bad day at work so they have to “take it out on someone”. Lots of fragile and frustrated derps over there, who silence people who actually have something meaningful and worthwhile to say.
I would guess your “banter” was not within the player interaction rules we have to follow regarding names/chat. You seem to realize that what you were saying may be taken as offensive.
We are not allowed to use profanity, masked profanity, vulgar or sexual comments, slurs, insults, hateful speech, trolling, advertising/spam. The exact same rules apply to all Blizzard games, regardless of the ESRB game rating.
Blizzard requires players to be very family friendly.
You can appeal your Silence if you wish. Be aware that means other players reported you and a GM agreed the chat logs backed it. A Silence is intended to remove social interactions as a penalty. That is a first offense. Usually future offenses are game Suspensions.
D4 has GMs? Since when lol
Fun fact. Long ago they did away with the concept of each game having their own Support teams. When people get reported in a game, put in a Support ticket, or put in an appeal, it all goes to the same CS team. They are trained cross game to provide the services and support possible for each game (limited by their tools and policies). Some games have a lot more support options than others. Diablo for example, has no “GM” services, but the same folks who would provide GM support in WoW, are answering those ticket for everything.
Most of the Support for the Americas in located at Blizzard offices in Austin, TX. For EU it is Cork, Ireland. They also cover for other Regions during the night or holidays so you may get a reply from a CS person outside the Americas Region if it is 3am.
oooooohhhh ok. that’s really cool, so if I was playing D3 for example and put in a ticket, someone would help, nice! good to know we got GMs still around.
Well, it depends on what you ask for. As I said, there are no in-game services supported for Diablo games. While a person who can do GM things will answer tickets, help with in-game issues is not a service offered for D3. D3 actually has no second by second game logs. It does account save points. A GM can’t actually see what was going on with the account, actions on the account, vendor/boss interactions, etc. Without logs they can’t even start to offer services for in-game issues.
Now, if you have an issue with accessing your D3 license, Battlenet account, real money purchases, and some Tech Support issues. Appeals of course. They do help with that. That is all they offer for any game outside of WoW.
The joke I made in trade chat was asking if anyone here was born before 2010. Then the responses came in and I said ok so you’re born in 2009? It was a friendly banter, without the quotes, a joke anyone with normally functioning brain wouldn’t take offense to. The player who was previously offended when I talked back to him, found this as an opportunity to rally people against me, and claimed it was “age shaming, crossing the line etc. and this is when they reported me.” I appealed and my appeal was declined, so whoever made this judgement obviously has problems of their own. Your chat is basically dead, ppl abusing the report system and the sense of chat is like an Orwellian fascist state, where only newspeak is allowed. It’s killing all the fun of human interactions because of a few snowflakes who are hungry for power and utterly lack any sense of humor.
MVPs don’t work for Blizzard so I can’t see your chat logs. What you just described sounds like someone trying to call the people in chat “kids” and if they said they were not, you tried to diminish that as well. Basic trolling and trying to start fights. Also not related to the actual game.
That might be why the GMs who reviewed the chat logs felt the reports were valid.
Again… the player rules for ALL Blizzard games are very family friendly.
You don’t see the paradox? It’s family friendly, and yet calling someone a kid is found to be offensive? The one who set this as a standard, calling someone age shaming is doing the actual age shaming. Very family friendly indeed. And I have absolutely no idea what an MVP is, and I don’t want to know by the looks of it.
I don’t think I have to explain to you why trying to use “kid” as an insult is…insulting. It has been used derisively for thousands of years in many societies. No, we are not allowed to insult people and pick fights/troll.
Don’t do that.
No, we’re only allowed to write “lfg duriel rota” very fun and family friendly indeed. You might as well have a bunch of bots playing the game when all the real people leave.
Not everyone’s idea of fun is picking on others, even if you think its a joke. Other’s may not. Period.
Therefore. Not allowed. This isn’t a hard concept to realize.
If you have friends that you want to banter with, use a different media away from Blizzard’s internal chat/voice systems. There you can banter as nasty as you want, no one at Blizzard will care.
Of course some alternates may have their own rules to follow as well. lol
Dude, ur just super passive aggressive about it, maybe some anger misdirected?
Maybe that’s just you reading too much into it?
Not really, no. Not to mention this was nearly 3 weeks ago… So thanks for digging up that nugget and singling me out for it.
Maybe the one with issues is you? Just saying.
Game on.
why does it matter when it was? I don’t visit this forum as often and when I did I saw your reply. Maybe your repressed anger has subsided since then, but still you need to be held accountable for the things you wrote then, lecturing me on “what’s allowed and what’s not allowed”, kinda ironic when you think about it, that you should lecture someone on nice behavior.
You obviously said something that offended some folks then proceeded to come to the forums and complain about it and when more folks point out where you went wrong you thought that this would be the time to be insulting to folks again? I think your behavior speaks for itself and makes it incredibly clear why a GM felt you needed a chat timeout.
It’s not my fault if you are feeling offended, that’s a you problem, not a me problem. Get it? Ppl like you will get offended at anything, and think they are somehow entitled to special treatment because of their feelies, but you probably just have some mental problems.
This is just circular logic. You have absolutely no idea what really happened and you base your judgement on assumptions, but most of it is just projections of your own inadequacies, and like I said earlier “hurt feelings” which has nothing to do with me or my conduct, these are just your feelings, so own them buddy.
Maybe that’s advice you should be following. We aren’t the ones trying to keep digging on whatever has offended you.
Good luck with it. I’m out.
