Diablo IV 1.5.0 Patch Notes — Diablo IV — Blizzard News
Let’s go to the latest sorcerer aspect “Firestarter”: “…they take an additional 1.0-2.5 direct Fire damage”
Woah, 2.5 points of damage!
I am… speechless… Is that supposed to be good? Am I missing something?
EDIT re-reading it again I guess the last part is important. “This damage counts as a Pyromancy Skill” I guess that could trigger some stuff that trigger on skill cast or something?!
EDIT2 Another question, about this tempering:
- X% chance for another Ice Blade on Cast.
If I get it on 2 items, does it mean I have 2X% of + 1 blade, OR 2 times +X% of +1 blade (for up to up +2 blade if lucky)
EDIT3 I can see 925 items having level requirement of… 100 now?
I thought they reduced level requirement previously to make it easier to level up alts?!
Each instance makes its own check. If you have two instance of, “10% chance to ” then you have a 1% chance both fire, 18% one fires, and an 81% neither fires.

I believe somewhere else it is clarified it scales based on item level. Presumably, it would be 925 x 1-2.5.
a max roll with 925 gear might do ~2300 damage, possibly more. But yes, Firestarter is absolute Trash tier.
It would work with Tal’s too, however incidental, say in the case of Fire DOT procs, like maybe the edge case of Flamescar.
But if your using Flamescar, you’re already using Incinerate, so…
Edit: NVM. It’s just…useless.
A more interesting clarification is probably this little gem:
- When enemies are Frozen, they take [150-300]% damage. This damage counts as a Frost Skill.
This may be the late change I submitted that made it into game. I suggested Frost Nova deal % weapon damage. Or…Is this a typo?
