Is it intentional, the team’s desire, for build X to be 10 times stronger than build Y?
Will all seasons be like this?
I know that perfect balance doesn’t exist, especially in complex games like Diablo, but I imagined that a single target build would hit about 30% more than an AOE build.
I genuinely don’t understand how Flay was buffed while already being 10 times above Rend.

I don’t play a flay build but it seems it’s not just a matter of using flay and suddenly you have billions of DPS. It takes a lot of min maxing and until you hit a certain threshold you’re better playing other builds. So I don’t think the flay changes are aimed at those end game build but people who are using it as their generator but not doing billions of damage.

No its not.
All you have to do is tempering weapons into flay duration and use basic aspects.
All the rest tooks the same effort as the other builds.
I have full gear 12/12, grandfather, shako, 6000% crit damage and my rend damage is 10 times lower than flay.
I’ve just made pure ww d2 style barb with 2 uber uniques and it deals absolutely no damage compared to my other lvls 100. The damage just doesn’t exist. 5% buff won’t solve it in the upcoming patch, zero x1.05% is still zero.
Has anyone ever seen a druid using rabies or a werewolf ultimate? Why are ultimate abilities even there? Iron maelstrom, fire hydra, rain of arrows, all useless.
The buffs to the worst builds should be HUGE like +100% damage to whirlwind vs bosses. Flay and bash would still be better tho in any scenario.
D4 complex? Since when? Every skill has 1 or 2 interactions at best, the fact that blizzard somehow can’t do basic math doesn’t mean is any hard. Hahaha. And yeah these turd game balancing team or w/e they have never test the game just sets random numbers and hopes for the best. Disgusting.

It looks exactly like this. The attempts to balance this game are a bit embarassing to be honest. And the solution is just to play their game at high pit lvls or hire some people who do so.

I didn’t think that before the buff to flay, but now I’m starting to think like this
Maybe they should hire some dropoffs from GGG (PAth of Exile ex employees.
Their balancing is also not Perfect, but way better than D4 balancing

They should nerf the builds that do billions of damage instead. Ez pz balance.
What would possibly make you assume there is a balancing team?

Maybe it’s not that easy to rework skills in the middle of the season, maybe VoH will bring big changes and for now they can only increase the numbers, but I am afraid it is not the case here.
Many skills require a full rework, +3% or +5% here and there solves nothing.
Barbillions* is what you mean

It is completely done on purpose. Yes it will keep continuing this way until the community gets its proverbial S___ together and forces them to stop.
It’s done for a few reasons.
- A portion of the playerbase actually prefers things to be THAT obviously better.
- Balancing things would cause them to have to make changes mid season, and there are two problems with that (A: The Seasons are not very long. B: The game moves so quickly that any large change would cause any player that was following the guild to make that build to have to redo everything they had just done. ie gear and all that would likely change a lot, and lead to frustration)
- There is an argument for it being the cheaper way to do things, as they won’t need as many developers actually balancing things.
HOWEVER… Point 2 & 3 are only the case if Blizzard doesn’t take the time to balance the game naturally over… oh… let’s say… a year. And guess what they DIDN’T do over the first year of the games life? Exactly… They did the bandaid fixes and the forced over powered builds that were supposedly just “bugs” the entire time, and nothing was actually balanced for the health of the games future.
So, that really just leaves #1 as being the actual culprit to why the game is as unbalanced as it is. And until the rest of us actually get together and make some noise to force Blizzard to stop doing this bs… until we actually stand together and see who the majority really is… nothing is going to change about any of this.
the most fun fact that 10 times stronger is probably an understatement, i think it’s literally x100 or even more.

They dont play their own game and it is clear each departmental dev unit focuses on their own kpis, without working in conjunction with other teams. Why season after season, things feel misaligned, disjointed, and often poorly executed on despite having time to build on the game.
Like the andariel visage botch job today. Someone in graphics did their job in changing the animation, but not the dmg location.

maybe you are right, balance team is so bad, why builds are not at least close to each other?
It’s because nerfs are forbidden now for some reason. Flay was buffed because the flay duration temper will be nerfed. But the nerf is only allowed for next season, so it looks weird.
I’d agree - it’s actually crazy. The disparity between say a chain lightning sorc and a bash barb is quite literally probably 100x the damage.
All real* builds between all classes should be at least kind of in line with each other to some degree. Obviously some will be better than others, tier lists will always exists, and maybe some won’t do the pit as well as others - but the disparity right now is just insane.
*Real builds being a build with skill synergies, supporting affixes, paragon nodes etc. that the game presents as a viable pathway to build a character. Some examples are Blood Lance necro or Lightning Sorc. These builds severely underperform

Nerfs are obnoxious what do people have against having fun and powerful builds? I wish they’d nerf them less and stop ruining fun builds.
They should be bringing more classes up to that level. I realize it’s easier to nerf but it drives players like me insane and makes me want to stop playing when it happens to a build I like. At least they haven’t been doing it until the end of season but even then I like to return to builds I enjoyed but I won’t go back to a build that is weaker than before. That isn’t exciting or motivating in the least.
This isn’t about Bash/Flay btw, just the strongest builds in general are usually the most fun to play. I myself find Bash/Flay boring af and went Whirlwind instead and was feeling pretty weak for awhile, recent buffs and having a good build helped. I loved Ball lightning and Hota in season 2 though, those were a blast to play.
