A bit confused on something

I see a lot of build guides that have uniques, but, there’s recommended aspects in those unique spots, and you can’t change any of the stats right?

Uniques are locked in stats. What they are most likely recommending are which stats you want to try to get a GA variant in if only get a single GA, but try aim more, up 4 GA if you can. and which stats to aim for the 25% Masterwork. Color represents how many times it has gained that 25% bonus: at 4/8/12, blue single, yellow double, or orange triple.

What are GA’s? Are those the secondary stats? Because I was farming this one unique, and I got the same stats on it 3 different times. Figured those stats are locked in, but just change percentages and numbers.

Sorry for the noob questions I’m kind of new to this.

GA = Greater Affixes. (Ancestral Level 800 drops) it shows up as a * at the end of the loot name, how many stars it shows indicates how many stats got upgraded. 3 max for legendary, 4 for unique/mythic. When looking at the stats on a GA gear, it will show a * next to it. What it means that the stats have been set to max rolled stats and multiplied by 1.5. So, for example, let say a Gear Dex roll is 100-254; the GA max roll it to 254 x 1.5 = 381 for the new stats total on the gear.

P.S. Ancestral are 50 levels higher than normal level 60 gear, so stats will be slightly higher as well from the 50-level increase.

GA = Greater Affixes. Those stats marked with a * - they roll at 150% of what that stat’s max can normally roll. You want to find gear with 2, 3, and extremely rare 4 GA’s. Sometimes, depending on the stat and what legendary aspect is applied, they can be better than a Mythic or Unique.

Huh.

So, is there different versions of gear? Like a unique, can a unique drop as an 800 ancestral? In which case you’d be able to change those aspects correct? I thought I should be farming for unique’s, but I supposed I should be farming for anscestrals of those uniques. Or maybe I have it wrong lol.

I’ll try to be more clear. The guide tells me I’m supposed to get The Ugly Bastard Helmet unique. In the guide it then has a section on what aspects I should get for each gear slot. In the helm spot it has the aspect “aspect of the fortress”. An aspect i haven’t seen on 3 750 unique Ugly Bastard helms.

Yes. Uniques and Mythics can have GA’s.

Build guilds will also show what gear you should look for until you find a particular Unique or Mythic. Remember, build guides are not written in stone - consider them as a starting point. Play around and see which build works best for you.

Uniques will always have the power that is assigned to them. That never changes. The range of the stat can, however.

That’s the impression I got, so then the guide must be wrong. How can I have a unique in a slot, and then an aspect that can’t even show up on it. Ok great, I think the mystery has been solved. Maybe they were just showing the aspects to use for gear before you slot the unique in.

Thank you both very much.

Think of the ancestral gear as an upgraded version. So yeah a 750 version and a 800 version. Rarer to find, but can give bigger boost to build if you get the GA on the stats you need it in.

Another difference is the 750 gear can only be masterwokred up to 8 times, so only gaining two 25% bonuses. While Ancestral can upgrade 12 times, gaining three 25% bonuses.

Most builds guides have multiple gear sets. To help build get going, depending on where you are on gear farming.

Normally there are 3 variants of the gear sets. Starter, Unique, Mythic.

You tend to start with the starter set, which is mostly just legendary with the aspect you imprint on. Till you get the unique that the build requires.

This also comes down to which site you’re looking at; some don’t give variant gear build options.

Also, as a reminder - if you go to the Occultist and reenchant a GA, the new stat will not be a GA.

Let’s say you find a 2 GA with Attack Speed and + Life every so-and-so seconds. + Life stat sucks, you reroll it, it will reroll as a regular stat.

Not all GA’s are great, btw.

Nice, you definitely helped me avoid disappointment on that one.
