D4 feedback after 3 weeks of play.
Divided into 94 Key points
Great job in these areas.
-
The Combat - Is smooth like butter. I feel like I have tremendous control of my character. The attacks feel responsive and accurate. The enemy attacks directed toward me align with what I see on the screen. The Diablo franchise is known for top tier fighting and this game delivers once again.
-
The Movement - Force Move works perfectly (except you can’t bind it to scroll wheel, that needs to be fixed). Never had any issues moving around be it in the Open World, a Dungeon or an intense battle. This has to be perfect and it’s close already. Nice job.
-
The Sounds - The ambient music, skill animation sound effects, monster screams, character battle cries etc. all greatly enhanced my experience. I can also hear the weather effects and my footsteps on the ground. Those details matter and don’t go unnoticed. One of the best sound packages of any game, ever.
-
The Graphics – Looks really good. Character is too zoomed in though. Would love to zoom out a bit more (zoom level on mount is perfect).
-
Altars of Lilith - Searching around the world for hidden objects for permanent rewards is amazing for long-term players of your game. Continue adding more “horizontal progression” systems like this one - they’re worth it.
-
Strongholds - This concept in practice works better than I thought it would. Each stronghold has its own unique quest, which even someone like me who usually pays 0 attention to Lore or what’s going on can appreciate. I enjoy the fact that it unlocks things I previously didn’t have access to, whether it’s a waypoint or a dungeon. They are clear as day to see on the minimap and I feel they’re worth my time.
-
The Butcher - This guy randomly spawning coming out of nowhere to NBA Jam people into another universe is beautiful. Need more surprises like this. Also
-
The Story / Voice Acting / Cutscenes - I didn’t pay attention to the story, or watch any of the cutscenes, but a lot of people loved them. You did a great job on these, probably.
-
The World / Environment / Art Direction - Feels dark and gloomy, with many details around every corner that make a huge difference. Different areas even within a single zone feel different with their own identity. Nice work.
-
Side Quests - These were mostly fun, easily to navigate through, and rewarded you well (mostly from Renown).
-
The Pace of the Game - I think the pace of moving around and the combat is far superior than what Diablo 3 had, where the meta is you move 1 million miles an hour slaughtering hundreds of monsters per second. Having the combat be slower and more cerebral makes the game more engaging.
Requires immediate a ttention
-
Let us zoom out further in the game . Character looks WAY too zoomed in. This game will give a crazy advantage to widescreen monitors. Being able to see much further and using skills way farther is a big issue. Lost Ark has a better ratio of zoom in on character (without needing widescreen support).
-
Drop Rates are too high. I understand you want to have build variety and complexity and I don’t know how to solve this issue. I am spending 50% of my time in game hacking and slashing, 10% travelling to places (thats fine except for NM Dungeons) 40% Looking at affixes and selling/salvaging 95% of the items + Wishing I had more stash space to save stuff for other builds.
Game becomes immediately less fun due to aforementioned reasons. In Diablo 2 I can just hide what I don’t want to see with a loot filter. Here I am forced to see all items and I am also forced to sell items to have enough gold. I think this can be tuned somehow but I don’t have the answers.
-
One size for all items. I understand this is a multi platform game. However a huge 2 hander and a ring takes up the same inventory space. It makes no sense and it doesn’t give any weight or special feeling to items. Diablo 3 even had 2 slots for certain items. It makes items feel appropriately sized. Diablo 3 even had 2 slots for certain items. It makes knowing what item is what WAY easier just by this small change. Even better going to Diablo 2 where items have weight and take up space according to their size.
-
Separate hotkey for ultimate. 6 hotkeys is very limiting. Guessing this is a console solution. There should be a special hotkey for ultimates (like Lost Ark has) but if you don’t specc into an ultimate you wont have that 7th hotkey.
-
Obtrusive character screen. Why does the visual representation of our character have to take up half our character/inventory screen? The inventory is extremely small as it is. You are making it even smaller by focusing on a shiny character because you decided to go with 1 slot items which is extremely unpleasing esthetically. Make it an option to show an ugly character or to have a D3 style character with items placed in appropriate areas on the screen. Helm on top, chest in the middle etc. It looks very unpleasing.
-
Let us zoom out further in the Skill Tree. It’s very hard if not impossible to see a character’s full build in the skill screen. This certainly can’t be the answer. Can we either zoom out further or re-arrange the placement of the skills so we can see the entire build on one screen? While we’re at it, can we zoom out further in the game? You let us zoom out on the World Boss Fight, why not in the game too?
-
Chain Crowd Controls are Rough. Crowd Controls by monsters are necessary so we’re scared of them. We should have to play tactically and dodge stuff, and want UNSTOPPABLE to be a valuable state to achieve on your characters. Despite all of this, sometimes you can get into these crazy CC chains from monsters where you lose control of your character for what seems like an eternity. It would be nice to take a look at the diminishing returns on this to at least give you a chance to get away and continue the fight.
-
Dungeon Backtracking. Self-explanatory, running back to pick up orbs or heading into super long dead ends is a major buzzkill.and it doesn’t give any weight
-
Whispering keys and Silent chests need to be more rewarding for how rare they are. They require a key in your limited consumables inv (that is already full of sigils and elixirs) Only being able to have 12 whispering keys in 1 slot is very limiting.
-
Let us Skip all cutscenes / NPC dialogue. It would be great for an option in the menu for this as some people don’t care about the story at all. Esc doesn’t work half of the time and sometimes you have to Alt+Tab out to fix it. Also let us rebind the key off of ESC so we don’t keep opening up the menu afterward.
-
Show possible rolls at the Occultist. Self explanatory, we really need this. I was playing thorns barb for the first time without much gold, and I didn’t even know which pieces could roll thorns on them. So I ended up blindly rerolling all pieces until my gold was gone. Terrible feeling.
-
Dismount from mobs is EXTREMELY punishing. I understand you want to have some penalty for being dismounted but 26 seconds (?) or whatever it is is way too long.
-
I don’t like seeing Sacred items in World Tier 4. They are instantly sold/salvaged so I really don’t understand the reason why they are even dropping in WT4 when Ancestral items exist
-
Item stats should have a hierarchy on the item itself (+Skills, Main Stats, Secondary stats, etc.). When comparing items (especially with advanced tooltips enabled), it is extremely difficult to see which one is better because the affixes on the item itself don’t seem to populate in any particular order. If you arrange them, it would be far easier to see which +skills an item had, or which offensive categories apply, etc. Need much better ordering of the affixes for comparison purposes.
-
Notifications for important events without having to open the map (let us select which ones we want notified). Lost Ark has this. You can select which events you want to be notified of so you hit all the things you care about. Please add this to Diablo 4.
-
Side areas in dungeons are not rewarding. I see so many crevices and side areas that are built into map and when I go to explore them there is absolutely nothing there. Some reward as a cursed object to summon an elite pack or two would be highly appreciated to reward exploration (no need for loot reward in 9/10 cases) just something extra to make people want to explore dungeons they have done a hundred times already. RNG = Fun.
-
Fix Tooltip errors.
-
Let us track multiple quests simultaneously. Why does the quest log on the right only let us track a single quest at a time? Most people usually have the main campaign quest in addition to many side quests going. I’m not saying we need to have them all populated, but only 1?.
-
Where is Crafting? Crafting specific things while leveling up in Diablo 3 was one of the only cool crafting things ever added to the game. Where is that in D4? Also for endgame crafting we should look at something more like Last Epoch or POE (but slightly less complicated).
-
On inspecting a player, show us their stats and skill points. This would be great for sharing builds with others.
-
Map Overlay, like in Diablo 2/3. Self explanatory, would love the map as an overlay like in the other games.
-
Show completed quests in the journal. When trying to research what side quests we are missing, almost no player can remember the names of all the quests they did. We need a list to show what we’ve completed to isolate the remaining ones we need. This is important!
-
Ping / Banner a Location to your party. I tried to point out to my team where the Butcher had spawned, but I had no way of doing that. Diablo 3 had a nice banner system where you could ping the location of a map. Please give us this feature in D4.
-
Use /(emote name) in chat to use the emote. The emote wheel is mainly there for Console players, but all PC players know that a keyboard is always faster than a mouse, so can we please get /emote in chat to cast the emote?
-
Blue/White/ seem irrelevant. What is the plan for these? Will they ever have a purpose other than salvaging or beyond the first few levels?
-
Hotkey for dropping items from inventory. Suggestion is Ctrl + Right click.
-
Gem Tab for Stash and Inventory. Super need this. Gems taking up item slots makes us want to kick a kitty. And please give this to use for free and not for extra MTX like Path of Exile!
-
Elite packs on the mini map. Super nice touch in Diablo Immortal, but it’s not present in any other Diablo game (unless you’re cheating with TurboHUD in D3). Please put this as a feature in D4. Note: you already have icons for: Elites that are required to complete objectives and red dots for monsters required to complete a quest. This request is for elites placed randomly in dungeons. Also the Butcher has an icon sometimes, and sometimes doesn’t (my YT video does not, while others do).
-
Loot Filters. Would’ve been godly for D2 and D3, but we never got them. Can we please get them for D4?
-
Stash Search. Can we type in keywords that highlight items? That would be LIIIIT!
-
Unlimited Range of Teleport (and other cursor skills). Teleport seems busted, especially on Ultra Wide monitors. Is there a plan to have a maximum distance on this skill?
-
Allow players to carry multiple dungeon objectives at once. Running around to collect things, only to find you are forced to run back to place one down before returning to pick up another is demoralizing. Can players carry multiple items at once to make the dungeon experience better?
-
Console (or PC with a controller) can’t move items in their inventory or sort their stash. When are they getting these functions?
-
Subtitles and dialogue volume are delayed and inconsistent. This was feedback provided by hearing-impaired players. Made it difficult to follow the story and quests. If they could be synced and the voice volumes normalized, this would help a lot. Or maybe this is an option for the hearing-impaired for them to enable.
-
Make Elites stand out more. They’re oftentimes hard to distinguish from regular monsters. Any way you could highlight them would be great (in addition to adding them to the mini map above).
-
Start events immediately without talking to NPC. I feel like I waste a lot of time doing events in dungeons even if the XP is great from the spawning waves. It takes time to initiate the event and complete it (sometimes mastery is impossible solo but mostly its pretty well balanced.) I am choosing between finishing nightmare dungeon quicker and getting Glyph XP or waiting for event to finish. Also spawning waves a bit quicker would be appreciated for Tiers 30+.
-
More inventory spaces. We could use so much more… Game feels very console friendly would be great to see PC QoL with added functionality to buttons.
-
Make gems be auto picked up.
-
Make gems be part of crafting recipies (sigils, elixirs etc even item upgrading)
-
Mid/transition rooms in nightmare dungeons don’t give XP– Why?
-
Some kind of loot filter. Gems are useless at this point, white items are useless beyond the first 20 mins of any new season. Blue items are useless after some hours in any new season.
-
NM Dungeons bosses are way too easy. They deal less damage than white mobs in the same dungeon. Maybe make them a bit more challenging somehow?
Quality of life

-
Add names to Legendary Powers to make them easy to identify / talk about.
-
Let us inspect items on the ground with a button like in Diablo 3.
-
Put a Stash in every town. And moving stash closer to blacksmith/occultist. Some towns are just super annoying to locate NPC’s and stash in.
-
Running back to NPCs in Dungeons. Give us a port? Port them to us? Anything?
-
Search function in the Codex.
-
Movement skills in town (yes I know we can mount in town, but movement skills would be nice anyway at least movement boost on mount.)
-
Exit Portal after completing a Dungeon (faster than the emote wheel).
-
Gear / Skill Loadouts (but not specs as the specs require gold).
-
LFG feature.
-
Add ons.

Show the total buffs from Altars of Lilith somewhere.

A way to see shared quests amongst party members.
Questions for Blizzard:
-
Map uncover for all characters, what’s blizzard philosophy on this?
-
What is the point of cellars? Just a fun 30 second room?
-
Can we put our ultimate on another key? (would essentially give us 7 skills, and require players to take an ultimate). Thoughts on this?
-
Dungeons seem to repeat themselves with layouts, bosses and objectives quite often. Are there plans to diversify / expand this?
-
Do we really need a huge visual character in our character/inventory screen? We are sacrificing a lot of inventory space just to look at our character. D3 inventory art style is extremely good. Your character is always the center of attention anyway in an ARPG. I am pretty sure if you did a survey people would rather have functionality over esthetics that are already in your face.
