Any possibility of increasing max party size to 8 in the future? That way they can have time to hammer out the balancing.
With crossplay, I have more than 3 friends that I’d like to be able to play with at the same time.

hope so. 4 player max is dumb.
I think the max party size being 4 might be a limitation due to the console side of the game, im not sure. But yeah I’d like to have a larger party size to tackle content in, the more the better, sounds fun.
yeah sounds about right despite a game called MAG for PS2 allowing 128 players online all at once, not to mention several MMOs are on console that allow raid parties up to 24 players, good theory though, i think youre right.
LOL
But doesn’t D2R support 8 player console parties? Granted the game structure is different and not “open world” like it is with diablo 4. Kind of find it odd that its limited to 4 players
dont expect critical thinking on a forum. one day these “PC gamers” will find out that current gen consoles and some phones are even faster than the 800 dollar “gaming rigs” they got from best buy geek squad LOL
Never heard of MAG, 128 in a party or in a world? Cause those are two differnt situations. I know D4 has world bosses of 12 players but they are all not in the same party, its a party of 4 in 3 seperate parties.
For Series S|X and PS5, I don’t think the strain of having more people in the game would be too much for them.
Xbox One and PS4, yeah, for sure. Could maybe limit to 1080p, and scale graphics quality down some with more than 4. Let’s not limit ourselves in a brand new game due to decade-old hardware.
Again I said not sure its just an assumption, I’m not saying all games that target both console and pc has this limitation, but yes it does seem odd how D2R we could have 8 players in a party and in D4 it shrunk to 4 in a party.
Ummm yeah doubt X on that one.
PCs will always be far more advanced.
Consoles need to be planned years in advance and their technology is locked in forever for that model.
PC. Bro you can upgrade w.e you want right now.
New ram? Done. New hard drive? Done.
top of the line PCs are always going to be cutting edge. not the 800 dollar PC you bought off the shelf with the 1660 super in it. LOL
another one who lacks critical thought or reading comprehension. ROFL
It’s not odd at all.
D2R is a lobby based game. You make your own game and up to 7 others join it.
You are completely split off from the rest of the game in your own little node.
However, d4 is always online, no lobby, forced interaction, shared world. Far different to try and do 8 people like that. The shards might be far less people per shard, so 8 might actually break it.
Also since d4 is an MMO I’m sure they’ll have very very specific 4 man raids / dungeons that are already built out and adding more people will ruin all that work
What I had read online, so…. taken with a grain of salt until a better source is found - is that it was limited to 4 due to balance issues. If that’s truly the case, then with some additional time to properly balance things, expanding to a max of 8 should seem very possible.
But I hadn’t thought of the older gen of consoles not having the horsepower for it, which may be a factor as well. Graphics quality scaling would seem to address that problem as well.
You could build a 800 PC that’s light-years better than a cellphone dude.
I literally read it just fine my guy.
nope, 100% inaccurate.
Will be quite funny if d4 starts blowing out ppls PCs and consoles because of how hot it melts the internals.
I’d enjoy that drama.
That makes a ton of sense tbh.
Again d2r. It’s no big deal to increase mob damage and HP the second someone joins the game. It’s a lobby game.
Diablo 4? Yeah good luck…you’d need some pretty intense scaling similar to retail wow. Even then idk.
Oh i totally get that! Yeah it was a shocker when D3 came out and its like here ya go 4 man parties but but d2 had 8 lol. Hopefully they have like a bigger dungeon or something that allows like 8 or 10 or more who knows!
Eh, 8man is overrated. More room for individual players to shine in smaller groups. Also less carrying of slackers.
Have some content be 4X2 parties.
Problem mostly solved.
