I think there might be a problem…just sayn…or not, but if this is working as intended, then yikes
Might not be a problem. I assum your eternal with means your decked in all 2-3 ga. Your likely going to need to trade for BIS items getting those last 3-4ga items as they are rare.
I know, i choose not to. I find no fun/enjoyment in that. Just my opinion.
So you are left with hunting for perfect BIS items. Which you may or may not see. Thats normal in arpgs/loot games.
Don’t worry, Blizz will destroy your build at some point and then you can get a whole new set of gear.
Sounds like you’re at the 90% mark, maybe even 95% mark depending on your gear. Finding BiS for every slot may take you another 6 months if you don’t trade. May take even longer than that honestly. I don’t know of any Diablo-like ARPG that doesn’t do this.
This is the life of the game and that’s with seasonal. My barb for example has no room for upgrades unless it’s another 4GA ugly BA with 100% over the 98% I found or a max aspect 4GA max aspect arreats over my 4GA mid tier one. The damage upgrade is miniscule and not worth the effort. Other slots are 3 GA legendaries and maybe I can hit higher rolling tempers for close/berserking damage but that would just lead to a brick.
If this is a seasonal character then on eternal I assume anyone trying is geared to the teeth already.
-
Player finds no enjoyment on playing Seasons every 3 months.
-
Same player gets bored from not finding an upgrade after 6 months because he plays the same character for like 1 year and complains on the forums.
Thats the TLDR
All of your assumptions are incorrect.
How would they be geared to the teeth? Maybe if Blizzard left the realm alone, but anyone with amazing gear would only have had like 5 seasons to get it and with zero seasonal powers.
Here’s the thing Iggy, I play 3 toons with as many as 3 builds per (different gear) and while they are each at 70%+ (1GA min. per slot) that leaves about 50 upgradeable slots well lower than BiS. Now thats a bit tooooo much ARPG BS for me. But hey, not for some. I would never go on any forum complaining about BiS.
So what are you after exactly? Because upgrading from 1 GA items is going to be pretty hard to do, especially if you’re min-maxing. Also for what purpose are you doing it? For the sake of trying to get BiS or just to push a few extra tiers in the pit?
It’s not that the game is RNG, that’s a whole other issue, and yes there are issues with RNG, but that’s the belly of the beast for any ARPG like Diablo. The issue is what is your end goal?
Progression, thats all…gear progression in a game/genre that is nothing but button smashing loot/progression. No advanced end goal, etc.
Last season, finding multi GA Ancestral Uniques was possible, Ancestral Legendary gears with at least 2 valuable GA a lot more complicated. This season, both are just as difficult to find. I am doing my 4th seasonal character and only have a couple usable 2 GA items in total.
Isn’t the purpose of this type of game to make the character one chooses to play progressively become stronger? And one does that by finding better gear. Sure, at some point, the effort becomes too high for a tiny progression but when a build is all single GA gear, there is still a lot of room for progression.
Since GA were introduced, I noticed that with each new season my builds have less and less multi GA items.
I think you’re playing the wrong game in all honesty, and I mean this sincerely. Diablo-like games, every single one from D2 to PoE to LE, etc. are based on the gimmick that you will always be searching for upgrades, it’s never ending. You’ll always be chasing that carrot.
Now me personally, I go with what works for what I plan to do, which is Seasonal Objectives every season. Having BiS gear is a pipe dream in these games, I accepted this long ago. Realistically you’re never meant to hit BiS in these types of games, you’d go crazy even attempting it. I admire your tenacity, but you have to look at this objectively. Without trading for items, it would take years, unless you’re just extremely lucky with drops.
You are quite literally looking for microscopic needles in a giant haystack.
I am no pro gamer, so you might be right. Perhaps I’m better off with closed end games, not open. To me, it seems like progression should be a relative given, not the TAXING effort you describe. I do know this, I am far too busy to endure any of what you are talking about.
Yeah, and it is quite fine. Perfection should be nearly unreachable.
The real problem imo, is that you reach that “90%” mark way too fast, crashing into the wall. The wall is not the issue, everything before is.
Is the drop rate for an upgrade something like .000000001% because you have nearly perfect gear? Also, you have to list play hours, not “total time”, because if you play 1 hour a day for 6 months that’s only 180 hours which is not as much as it sounds for farming.
This season they nerfed the drop rates for ancestral gear pretty significantly, especially uniques. This also affected the eternal realm.
You might want to take a break until next season starts. Drop rates are supposedly better.
Which is obviously different for everyone. There’s no right or wrong answer here either. You prolong the progression to reach that 90% mark and now some people love it, others hate it.
For me it’s fine at the moment, but I’m also not pushing my builds to do 100+ tier pits either. If I played Eternal or spent more time in the game and grinded, I might want that, but at this point in my life I’m done with the mindless grinds in video games just for the sake of pushing a number higher.
For me that’s not enjoyable anymore. I want to be more engaged with the game. Something ‘subjectively’ fun for me.
