3 second cooldown for basic skill... really

Is there any build that can be played with a 3-second cooldown on a basic skill? That’s a power from the Chaos Powers. I tried it with a Barbarian: he does a basic blow, then he can’t use a core skill because he doesn’t have enough Fury, and he can’t do another basic blow until the 3 seconds are up. During that time, tons of enemies surround him, dance around him, have time to drink some beers and tell stories—then they kill the Barb and turn him into a barbecue.

This cooldown should be removed. It doesn’t make any sense—it’s way too punitive, at least for the Barbarian, from what I’ve tried so far. Maybe it’s useful with some builds, but I doubt it. Or else well, it’s just another power and some dev times passed on it for nothing.

From a gameplay point of view, it doesn’t make sense either. It’s like shutting down the gameplay for 3 seconds: one blow, then a 3-second pause… it feels like playing a game that runs at 1 frame every 3 seconds.

Sounds like it’s intended for a build that uses multiple basic attacks.

So you tried it out with one specific build for the Barb while leveling and it didn’t work? Seems you may have to change up your build, or continue without it until you can make it work for you, assuming you want to make it work for you. I don’t see any problems with it, I have no doubt people will come up with a build that can abuse it.

Yep maybe, I think you’re right, but in this case it shoudln’t have been the second power we can unlock, at the very beginning. It means everybody got this power without a build for it. It looks like some lack of “testing”

I’ll show them! My druid’s whole skill bar will be cycling all my basic attacks… and earthen bulwark.

So just a bad decision to make it one of the first powers perks you get, yea that seems par for the course.

Nobody is forcing you to use it.

Wait till this guy reads the “Single Minded Fury” barbarian power XD

I am legit going to try and make that power work somehow. Hey, it’s three less weapons to masterwork right? Right??

That doesn’t sound very good at all. I hope that’s just some bug that needs a hot fix, because that sounds awful in any game.

Then again, this is D4, which is still in Beta land after 2 years, and it still needs a lot of improving and fixing, and no fancy video promo is going to change that until the game is actually fixed and improved.

As much as my Girl and I like D4, we do NOT like the unresolved bugs, issues and problems in the game, and this cooldown issue as described by the OP, if correct, it is not good, and definitely needs a hot fix.

Either way, let’s see how this season turns out. Hopefully, Diablo 4 - Season 10 will be better than the last season. - JJ -

I’m only lvl 22 but I’m loving this build. I have 4 basic attacks equipped. Coupled with the ability that casts a 2nd basic skill I’m getting 2 guaranteed crit overpowers every cast and the cool downs just rotate so I always have one up. The cool down reduction from the random chaos burst thing also works on these cool downs. It’s a fun level build so far.

Yeah i dont see the point in this its just stupid and its making me move away from this game already… i mean you cant do the chaos stuff because they are so tanky on normal that a 3 second delay is certain failure and you have to run away but they can fkn teleport so death it is then… in any other game ive played like poe for example your basic skill is always up keeping you alive, this game is punishment right out the blocks… im done

It may be frustrating to play a Beta game, but that is what we all paid for. However, this may just be a bug that needs a hot fix, and in all due fairness to Blizzard, we are not sure this is even happening. I have not experienced it, but will try out Barb and see if this is happening, because I never experienced this on my Barb before. Then again, this is a new season and with it may come bugs and issues that need hot fixes, so no need to rush and be done, friend.

Either way, the game can still be played and enjoyed to a point, despite its bugs, issues and problems. Just make the best of it since you already paid for the game. Cheers! - JJ -

It’s not a bug. It’s just not meant to be used with one basic skill. You have to use multiple and cycle through them while the others are on cool down. The 3 second cool down also appears to be reduced by cool down reduction. And paired with skill that casts two basic skills you get two oberpower crits every attack. I’m using 4 with my build and it’s fantastic so far.

Good to know because like I mentioned before, I never experienced anything like what the OP described. Now I’m off to experience how this new D4 Season 10 will be.

Hopefully, D4 - S10 will be better than all previous seasons! Thanks for sharing, friend. Cheers! - JJ -

I hear you. It’s a lot like playing Super Mario Bro’s with a cool down on jump. It adds a ton of excitement, doesn’t it?! *who exactly is this for?

I just turned that perk off. :stuck_out_tongue:

But on a side note, when you only have 3 early on, channeling basic skills are a bit better with that one.

I knew some one would make it work for them. What class are you playing? Just curious.

No one is forceing to use it. It’s an early perk, that you can progress without.

Barb as always. I could see this build actually being viable at end game too once you stack up all the basic skill uniques and the new barb weapon that increases damage for every attack skill equipped. We’ll see how it pans out.
