3 or 4 stats on items (boots)

I have a pair of level 40 legendary boots with 4 stats on them. I have a pair of level 51 legendary sacred boots with 3 stats on them.

Is the number of stats random? Is this true for all gear?

The 4-stat boots dropped as legendary and the sacred were upgraded. I do have another imprinted item with 4 stats so not sure if that’s related.

Hi,

Some unique “Rare” items have only 3 stats. Check if there is an “Item Description” or “Text” at the bottom of the item. If yes, It’s a Rare Unique, if not it’s a random item with 3 stats. Cheers

Upgrade those rare uniques, some have hidden modifers which unlock only after upgrading. There is a rare unique necklace you get from a side quest, the quest is pretty long and involves killing Andariel again and the reward is just an ‘okay’ necklace, but some players discovered that by upgrading it at level 75+…it unlocked a new modifier that gave as much as 2,000 HP and has since become a major staple for HC characters.

So how does this work if I upgrade it at level 64 when I get it? I upgraded it and it was just vendor trash.

Rares start getting 4 affixes at higher level.

First off what quest is that and second what hidden modifiers ive never heard of eother of those

Keep in mind that sockets take up a slot when rolled naturally.

Hmmm - still not sure I’m understanding here. Instead of trying to explain it - can someone just answer this:

What drives 3 vs 4 stats on gear? It’s not sacred and it’s not legendary - is it just part of the luck of the draw on the item?

No idea, been wondering that too. I think it’s just more rng.
