They were knee deep in the 2nd full expansion for D3 when the bean counters came in and told them it was canceled. It didn’t make sense to anyone actually developing the game to cancel that expansion, but it didn’t matter.

Very true, but D4 has a paid battlepass and shop with cosmetics that people are willing to pay for. The bean counters at microsoft should be happy.
