2 hindrances when playing Undercity

first, spirit beacons are the darkest objects on the entire map, and it’s done entirely on purpose to slow players down. i noticed that spirit beacons have no illumination, even when skills with lighting effects pass through them, completely Vantablack objects. meanwhile, the devs place spotlights on piles of skulls, rocks, and moss, none of which improve QoL.

second, when reaching the greater spirit beacon in map #2, a spirit always spawns 5 seconds after the last wave of monsters. it’s not significant, but it’s an annoyance, especially for players in dire need of attunement points and in a rush.

I mean, the markers on the map get you almost right on top of it

yea. I dont really see an issue there either to be honest.

Agree adjustments would help to those and probably not be too difficult. Wouldn’t take a lot of highlight application to the clicky and should be able to be in keeping with overall design.

Amount of light in the rl room can play a part in this.

Yeah, i personally see no problem, but if it helps someone else, sure, let it light up a little

I’ve speedrun hundreds of these this season. The mini map has the beacons clearly marked and I average 2 minutes a run.

I don’t think there’s an issue.

Not everyone has good vision. I can see it just fine, too, but it Doesn’t kill you to be empathetic.

It’s not a lack of empathy, I can only relate my own experiences. I’ve never noticed any visibility issue so that’s what I relayed.

The biggest issue is the activity is boring, especially when we already have 2 other dungeon run type activities.

It does help a bit to be aware there is a flash of light periodically running up the beacon.

When there’s a lot of light in the room in real life and or a lot going on around the beacon, it can be a little flow breaking to get the exact positioning sometimes.

Looking closer at it being a beacon to be lit, I’m not seeing an obvious remedy to fixed lighting being on it. Perhaps a slight slowing of the moving flash or slight frequency increase.

I havent noticed any either, but i could imagine some people having issues with seeing where exactly to click. Not calling you apathetic, btw

correct, and among all objects that have markers on the minimap, the spirit beacon is the most vantablack thing, hard to spot even when standing right next to it. i genuinely have to use extra focus just to find it.

Well bright sage, don’t make your number one target the spirit beacons always go for the hourglass bearers first, do that and you will accumulate enough time to do full clears
Ignore those who advise to keep looking at the map are most probably those who have never done an undercity run. You only need to look at the map to make sure you have done 3 beacons before moving to the next level. The hourglass kills become more important when doing the mythic runs

really appreciate it, and thank you for being such an empathetic good lad.

yes, i always go for the hourglass group to strive for extra time. come to think of it, maybe playing that lightning-spear-instant-teleport build, similar to mekuna’s, teleport makes the environment change faster than my eyesight can keep up. i believe other classes could spot the beacon more easily from afar and head straight to it.

but still, i hope the studio adds more static lighting asset to it, ideally, making it as bright as the pit’s teleport door LOL. after all, didn’t diablo 4 win the games accessibility award?

Decided by a jury of 18 game developers and creators of the gaming accessibility field, Diablo 4 won the award for Best Blind & Low Vision Accessibility and Most Improved thanks to the game’s introduction of audio-based assistance, which added multi-layered audio cues to navigate through Sanctuary.

Yes, I believe that that darkness is deliberate and so annoying that I refuse to do the D4 rabbit runs any longer…one of the many oddities about this game which makes me distrust the true motives of the designers.

I dont even look at something other than the Subo Map Hack Powered Mini-Map when doing Undercity Runs. (( :see_no_evil: ))

I heared DIV got nice graphics? Havent seen them yet.

I look at the map as well.

Though I probably have ran a total of 14 Under city dungeons “TOTAL” (last season and this season), I’ve never had any visual issues.

Maybe adjust your game to make things “brighter”.

Remember when the Dev’s wanted the game to be a darker/grittier experience? :man_shrugging:

I empathize with your plight, it should be easier to see

"great, you also feel the same. it’s very odd that this beacon object is so dim. if it’s not deliberate, then the designer who placed this object might have forgotten to toggle certain visibility settings for it. :sob:
