10 million players played D4 in June

That is revenue, not profit, thats the point.

If it costs them $700M to make the game, and they make $1B in revenue, thats still good profit but it’s not as much as people think and still not a huge deal to atvi which makes >85% of its money from other studios.

uh huh… look, it’s simple… if you ever read the documentation provided to shareholders and understand how information passed on to prospective shareholders works, you’ll know they can’t be vague… if they say played, it means played not just logged in… shareholder information is policed by the FTC and you cannot make claims that are demonstrably false (that’s fraud)… so you can do that weird Fake News thing where you suggest that they are making things up, but they can’t in any shareholder or investment information. You do you though champ.

Of course theres going to be a drop shown in the next quarterly. Thats pretty standard fare in this business, particularly a single player game. You guys arent revealing anything earth shattering with that prediction.

True metrics.

If people are playing the game, then people are playing the game. Everything else is just noise.

You are not making sense. They made back everything they spent on the game plus a lot.

You are just coping

You are making up how much you think it cost to try and make them negative. You are a

Technically speaking, it’s not false to claim that logging in once is having played the game. Try again, surely you can do better.

(I seriously hate grammar.)

25k viewers on twitch right now, even slots have more lol

So, the haters only recourse now is to insist that Blizzard is misleading their shareholders in an earnings report; which is a SERIOUS federal offense.

This should be fun to watch.

They probably made money but its not totally clear that they did, they havent publicly reported the costs. Some AAA games do cost ~$1B, it was in the MSFT-ATVI CMA. They certainly didnt make $1B in profit, and a few hundred million over a 6-9 year development cycle for a release of this size is not that much. If they made $300M on a $700M spend thats a 50% gain, not bad, but not much more than a compounding 5% interest return over 6-9 years which they could get from much safer investments. VTI index fund returned ~50% over the past 5 years, SPX returned ~60%. If you’re barely beating the index (or losing to it) its not a good risk adjusted return.

That was in June, not late July. The first thing they teach you in college statistics is that statistics lie, which it just did. This game is losing players faster than any game I’ve ever seen, Including big streamers. I highly expect the majority of d4 players to be gone by mid-August, unless the next season brings about some significant changes to the quality of life and end-game. Especially uber uniques. The uber unique drop rate is killing this game.

The Game rating for D4. was 9.0 from critics. The community gave it an overwhelming 2.0 rating with tens of thousands of people voting in the poll.

No, certain things can be presented as better than it is without breaking any laws nor rules whatsoever.

It’s just a matter of manipulating the perspective. But they can’t lie with the numbers, those are bound by laws.

But as long as they stay within the scope of those rules, they are free to manipulate what they show to make it seem better than how it’s really doing.

Especially when it’s a quarterly including the launch date itself.

It’s how the season is doing which matters most.

Blizzard just removed their predatory premium season pass button.

They got reported to anti-consumer groups for it.

This company made all this money selling us this dud game. Can’t believe y’all on their side.

I agree on so many levels. This game was a massive disappointment. If I were a developer involved in this, I would not want my name on the project.

The jist of the earnings report is strong sales and strong retention. If either of those things aren’t true then Blizzard has just crossed the FTC and could be facing federal charges.

This doesn’t guarantee the game’s future, but as of right now the game is a huge success and is trending to continue that success.

It’s not even about sides.

Love or hate Blizzard, you’d have to be in serious denial to say that Diablo 4 is failing at this point.

No large company like Activision will openly lie in an earnings report because then they are open to being sued by the FTC and shareholders.

It simply doesn’t happen.

Put away your tinfoil hat.
