Yikes! China bans gaming?

Insane imo, i wonder how the people will react.

Hopefully after ActiBlizz investing so much into the Chinese market, like 90% of the company, i hope we gamers in the Free worlds do not suffer any side effects. This is crazy, how will Tencent survive this? Last i heard they are switching to facial recognition software instead of gaming.

This is like literal gaming Armageddon imo. it’s real, right? not april fools?

It’s China and they’re not banning but restricting under 18. Do your homework before freaking out…for a change.

Tencent probably have heavy ties to CCP, they won’t suffer. That’s why all foreign stuff must go through them, They are not only a gaming company, they deal in movies (Tencent Pictures) and probably other stuff that “needs” censoring.

that’s a billion gamers restricted to 3 hours per week. Literally killed the future growth of gamers.

That why China did it. Duhhhh. You’re learning.

US gaming stocks doesn’t seem to be reacting much. Probably tells you what you need to know.
Tencent is up!

Minors were already heavily restricted before, so this is a small additional change.

It is quite crazy of course. Well, except for the part about restricting minors spending money on MTX. That sounds like an outright good idea :stuck_out_tongue:

Pretty sure most whales are not children though.

Also, it is a China problem so I don’t see why would any of you guys, especially from the Western even care about it.

Over reacting again. Nothing to see here.

It is not much of a problem, since the change is so small from what China had already, but the logic is clear enough. If China closed down its gaming market then some games, like D:I might not be made, due to the market being too small. Some people would care about that.

Will you have to buy a different Halloween mask to post from each of your alts?

Oh, it is only online gaming they are restricting. I love this law. Might help more games to have an offline mode.

Btw, most gaming stocks seem to be having a great day.

Seems rather unenforceable without some seriously heavy spying/monitoring, but I also suppose that’s easy enough to do when you’ve got nothing else to do.

I like both you and TS, so it saddens me to watch you fight :smirk:

It’s ok. Diablo is pegi 18 anyway.

Who is TS?

I’m not fighting anyone. I’m merely having a bit of fun, having recognised that Bravata’s modus operandi has changed to a daily dose of concern trolling.

I dont think you guys even understand the ramifications this will have. China dollars make up for 8/10ths of the gaming industry. You need to understand that around 83% of blizzards revenue comes from China. Go look up where their revenue splits come from. Hint: it’s tencent.

and i am so disappointed in this communities reaction mostly being okay with them doing this. WHAT HAPPENED TO FREEDOM? You’re literally okay with a government removing the people’s ability to enjoy games. I’m ashamed to say i’m part of this community.

im gonna go log off, this is truly unsettling…

If you had better bait, and used it less frequently, I’m sure you’d get more bites.
