YES! We got our forum back!

Thank you Blizzard! D3 forum used for D3. Wohoo!

The handful of people who are still around should have a great time. :fireworks: :sparkler:

“Topics on this forum not related to Diablo III may be removed.”

I wonder if they will also remove the comments dogging Immortal, D4 and Blizzard as well?

Ask Blizzard. Only they know.

Next pinned post will be “due to the lack of posts, we’re closing this forum”

How soon does this happen?

PS D4 is still a rip off

Naw, they won’t. They kept your thread about D4 too.

If it was not for all of the comments about D4 this forum would be in a coma until the S29 patch is up.

Correct, so all the people who make D4 threads or comments but love telling anyone else “D4 forum —-> that way”, should instead thank them for keeping the place alive!

I do not see it ever being closed as long as it has a handful of know-it-alls with something to say it will still be around. I see that many of the old timers have moved on already, but the forum will continue.

It’s not likely to go anywhere. If SC2 and SCR are being left up, D3 will be too.

There’s even a Diablo 1 and Warcraft 2 forum, and thay are as dead as it gets.

Pleased to see Blizzard post this.

A dead forum is still better than a D4 infested forum.

Hard to tell considering that they didn’t remove your thread about D4 success, but they removed a few really old D4 threads and DI threads including mine recently.

I guess they want everyone to know that D4 is indeed a success.

Honestly, they should have been moving the D4 posts to the “other games” section all along.

Not for me.

I feel that instead of making the D3 forum a dead forum, they should make it a One-Stop General Discussion for all Diablo games.

First, it feels better to discuss Diablo games or Diablo news or Breaking News; Diablo Dev Drama with those posters that you knew from day 1 D3 launch day than talking with random Redditors from Diablo Reddit.

Secondly, arguing or debating in the forum is far superior to doing it in Reddit as those threads will get buried in the next day.

So now, with the new rule enforced by the blue, people can’t even share the success story of D4 or breaking news about D4 with regulars here. It is not like everyone here bought D4 and will camp at the D4 forum for the latest breaking news.

I think the idea is that now D4 is released, and there are many official, and unofficial places to talk about it, that people have a ton of options to find D4 news if they want it.

The D3 forum is for D3 news, discussion, etc. If people want D4 info, they will go to the D4 locations.

My personal opinion? This forum is quiet enough that a few stray Immortal or D4 posts were not hurting anything. I don’t make the rules though.

Totally correct move by Blizzard. D3 forum is for D3.

It will be nice not seeing D:I threads on the D3 forum.

Absolutely not.

  1. The D3 forum should be strictly for D3.
  2. The D2R forum should be for D2R.
  3. The D4 forum should be for D4.

People that want to see what’s up with D4 can still read the D4 board. You might not be able to post and tell the random tryhard that their opinion is trash, but let’s not pretend that’s really put anyone in their place on the internet.

Trying to make this some kind of Diablo General is of no real benefit, either. D1-D3 are effectively dead in the eyes of Blizzard, with seasonal blah about the most they can muster. Mod discussion for the first two could be interesting, but I’d say there was never much a scene for the first while the second kinda faded into obscurity with the synergies patch as modding the game became more difficult. Since you’re not getting new official content, there’s not really much to objectively discuss. End result, it’d turn out more like a D4 forum with occasional D:I commentary. Assuming people even care enough about the latter because mobile players will gobble up absolute garbage and ask for more.

For those who persist on antagonizing, yeah, dead forum, move on, good riddance. There are still positive reasons for the place that involve finding play partners, build discussion or strategy, and just generally hanging out with folks who have a similar interest. “Controversy gets clicks!” may be the internet mantra for some, but a lot of people don’t give a damn.

The DI and D4 posts, yeah. But not Blizzard related posts; those have always been allowed. If the criticism is over a game, just don’t make it over any game besides D3.

It’s likely due to D3 being part of the threads. For example, an actual, good-faith comparison between aspects of D3 and something else may be allowed to stay.

It wasn’t a few threads. D4 was getting consistent posts, and with the consistent sprinkling of DI posts, they were dominating the D3 forum.

I feel the opposite about the inactive/active aspect. A fast moving, constantly active forum would drown the non-D3 threads out making them less noticeable. However, a slow moving forum exacerbates the issue by allowing non-D3 threads to dominate.

I look forward to the D3 forum becoming popular again soon enough when the “I have no impulse control” D4 masses realize they paid 100+ USD for a broken stripped down version of D3 that may be comparable after 1-2 years of serious dev work (monetization is not dev work).
