I hear what you’re saying on upscaling if it’s doing that… the first line under One S / Playing Games was something I noticed. Not sure if it’s clear if either of the setups were upscaling yet.
On my One S / TV the TV’s info showed it was running 3840 x 2160 resolution… not saying anything about upscaling… at least there. I’ll have to check in with my friend to see if there’s anything showing on his TV like that when using his Series X.
Interested to look at the source of the updates in the linked Reddit - is anyone seeing where they’re coming from?
3.2.21 update indicates reproducing the issue was a problem with initial reports - curious if that is indicating d3 running 4k or not “depends”.
3.3.21 and 15.3.21 updates indicate there “may” be an update needed from Blizzard, but that it wasn’t finalised at that stage of discussions between the Blizzard and Microsoft teams.
6 weeks of progress followed by 8 weeks of no updates for the Reddit…
Skelys did you have Auto-HDR on when it showed 4K? That is the only time when my TV says it’s 4K when playing Diablo 3…and it’s still not 4K it’s 1080p…the difference to Xbox One X version is huge…you can easily tell it’s not 4K.
That’s not a setting I’ve seen on the TV, but I’ll have a bit more of a look around on it and see what can be found.
Unfortunately I haven’t got access to a One X at this stage to sus that one out.
This is the wiki table I was looking at: google wiki xbox generations, scroll down to “comparisons”… unsure how to link.
Tried some other input sources to see what TV displays:
One S (via HDMI) - 3840 x 2160 (running d3)
Set top box (via HDMI) - 1080p (playing local channels)
Live TV (via aerial) - SD 560i (local channels)
You need a newer tv for HDR, series x has a feature to auto enable hdr on older titles improves quality (lighting). As guy said with out auto-hdr the tv states its 1080p with auto-hdr it says 4k, even tho the textures are blurry. Does your tv even support HDMI 2.1? Might be a issue for newer tech only.

A video explaing the quality down grade from one x enhanced vs Series x … Spent full price on this after my pc went out mounths with NO FIX, on a upscaled 4k one S, you wont notice how bad the degrade of graphics are even from the high setting 1080p i played vs a machine twice as powerfull.
At this point i might not even buy d2r feel scamed out 60$
Yes. This is a brand new LG OLED. Everythings on the Series X works perfectly fine in either UHD + HDR or even PC gaming with Gsync, 120 Hz AND UHD on my RTX3060.
So it’s ONLY an D3 Software Issue, and seriously - THIS has to be fixed months ago!
I mean, what the hell takes them so long? Do they even care for us? Or do they give a sh** for D3 anymore?

Yeah its getting pretty bad i think they are just ignoring the console version tbh or not enough ppl play it on series x yet. Vizio Pqx quantum led for me the amd free sync \ pro gaming engine works beautiful with the series x
A reply from a Mod or Developer would be superb …
Some kind of Information IF anybody currently working on this problem or if it is getting ignored … @ Blizzard.

Checked in with my friend running the Series X and he says the TV is reporting 2160p while running d3 and that the textures look sharp. He also said occasionally he’d noticed the display wasn’t as good … this happened last night and he checked what the TV was reporting … it said 1080p. Restart fixed it back to sharp & 2160p. (Said he’d physically moved the xBox just prior and bumped some cables including dropping the power… don’t know if that would have had anything to do with it).
It looks like there’s something intermittent happening there with the downgraded resolution. This seems to fit with the updates in Reddit saying the Microsoft team “was finally able to reproduce it” (“thanks to the help [the reporting player] provided”).
I’m going to keep an eye out and see if the same thing happens on my One S. I recall noticing occasionally the graphics would look not as good but didnt look closely at it at the time.
@eScenCe, as you have the Series X and you’re getting the downgraded graphics, wonder if it would be worth reporting here for Dev’s info
- what system info is being displayed from your TV while running D3 and
- compare that to what it displays running other xBox legacy titles where you’re getting improved display.
- Does restarting the xBox and loading d3 back up before anything else make any difference to the info displayed by the TV?
Share the concerns here that Blizzard and Microsoft need to get some updates out on this. It’s been 3 months since the issue was acknowledged by Microsoft and 2 months since the last update.
Any update to this issue?
Diablo 3 has had multiple patches to the console since the last update from Jason Ronald. Haven’t seen any indication this has been fixed. Can a ticket be submitted to Blizzard, or is there a mod on these forums that can provide an insight?

This is not a bug. They just haven’t implemented 4K on Series X|S. This is of course disappointing in itself, but there we are.
Just started playing D3 again but I knew something looked off… Really would be nice for this to get fixed and I’ve already pre-ordered D2 Resurrected so I hope it’s going to be in 4k.
I hope they fix this anytime soon otherwise the Prime Evil Collection makes no sense
Please blizzard wake up!
I can’t believe this hasn’t been fixed yet. What happened with Blizzard?

Just bought Prime evil and the Resolution ist really disapointing
Has this been fixed yet? Or is it being worked on? It’s been almost a year since this was discovered and Diablo 3 is still being sold on Series X under the false advertising that it runs at 4K resolution.
This resolution issue is the only thing holding me back from buying the Prime Evil collection for my Xbox Series X. There’s no way I’m playing D3 in 1080p on a massive 4K screen.
4/24/22 on an Xbox Series S here. Definitely seems to be displaying at 1080p… Xbox and TV are both set to 4k UHD and Visio confirmed this TV has HDMI 2.1
Because Series S runs One S version of games most of the time.
