Wow Death Nova sucks

You need blood nova on your bar or the sim pets will only cast the unruned version.

we don’t have any auto skills on console, we have to manually do so. So, unlike on PC where you can cheat and use the num lock auto skill hack, we have to manually do everything…makes it more tricky with bone armour stacks. If we forget or are too slow with bone armour we’re kind of screwed on consoles. It’s very frustrating. Blizzard could have easily implemented this function for consoles (although it’s really cheating, as it’s automation and should have been removed from the game imho).

Just trying this build out now, managed a 110 with a lower level ethereal in 8 minutes at p950, no augments, only a few ancients and un-optimised rolls on the gear. And, I think I’ve been playing it slightly wrong too LOL. sigh.

Death Nova is most likely (if we are taking season themes away), probably the best trash clearer in the game (with some season themes it just get’s better…).

Problem is mainly after GR130 (considering a toon in ancients with like at least 10x 125 augments), single target rift guardians become a slog. Especially on pushing it is recommended to keep at least one pylon (not Conduit though) for the boss.

Death Nova (besides the Inarius variant) is not really dependent on Bone Armor (unless you use Scythe of the Cycle, but that is recommended for speeds and/or season themes with "open cube/more cube slots) and I really don’t see the need to have it NumLock’d.

Maybe not dependent… but the Bone Armor stuns proc Krysbin’s Sentence triple damage bonus. So very much a thing you save for your physical cycle.

Deal 75–100% increased damage against slowed enemies or triple this bonus against enemies afflicted by any other type of control-impairing effect.

Yes, I know that, and I play it that way, of course (to stun with Bone Armor to maximize in Physical Coe cycle).

However, I understood from this:

that the player believes Bone Armor needs to be NumLock’d to not “run out”. Real danger of it “running out” would be in a Scythe of the Cycle variant, IMHO.

Also, why did we Necro that old thread?

That’s something I still need to learn.

Yes, agreed, although I’m rolling the RG on GR130 in around a minute at p1650 and no augments.

I did so because the OP was pretty wrong about the build (even without an ethereal in the mix). If I’m regularly clearing a GR135 in 7-8 minutes and I’m p1650 with zero augments and a necro newbie, then anyone can do it. It seems that the OP made my mistake - manually casting death nova instead of spamming siphon blood. Once I realised that, the build changed for me. I am now working on not decimating trash and scouting for elites and trying to herd them all into a nice large phat kill group. I’m still impatient with pylons though and really need to work on that, as most times, I’m hitting on the RG without any pylon(s) or adds.

Blizzard needs to fix the simalcrum bug (the single target dmg boost from a year ago was never applied to your sims, only your own character). It needs to be fixed, and probably a tiny buff too. For me, dmg to trash is just right. On PC, it’s probably a bit too much. On consoles, we need to clear trash for those pesky NGs so we do the same dmg as the PC version of the game (until then, we’re doing half dmg vs PC for the same build). Nerfing trash would make it much harder for console players to generate NG globes and full dmg output and severely hinder clears.

I am hoping to hit at least GR140 this season. I don’t think I’ll go much higher than perhaps GR142, at least, not without a helluva lot of map/mob/pylon fishing which I think is not in the spirit of the game and is basically cheating.
