I’ve looked at the Maxroll LoD Twister guide, but it only describes how to use Twister if I have all of the supporting legendaries; so I’m looking for feedback from more experienced Wizards on how to properly use Twisters if I only have a subset of the supporting legendaries.
Here’s what I’m thinking:
If I have Twisted Sword, then choose the Wicked Wind rune. Twisted Sword seems to be the most important/highest DPS of all the Twister related legendaries.
If I have Etched Sigil, but not Twisted Sword:
Remove Twister from the skill bar to make room for another skill and just rely on the autocast Twisters. I know that autocast Twisters don’t proc AD, but if I have to interrupt channeling to self-cast twisters, then I lose the 200-250% damage bonus. Plus, the Twisters (if I don’t use Wicked Wind) move erratically so I can’t rely on them staying on top of a large pull to take advantage of AD.
Use Arcane Torrent for channeling (cheaper than Disintegrate and RoF) and can obtain damage reduction from the Flame Ward rune
If I only have Valthek and/or Ranslor’s Folly, then Gale Force (15% increased damage) seems to give the most DPS (Raging Storm would be more, but given how erratically the Twisters travel, I’m not sure if they would combine often enough and in the right spots to be useful).
Also a question about Etched Sigil: Does the increased damage while channeling take effect immediately or do I have to wait a second like with Deathwish?
Etched Sigil on its own isn’t particularly strong, it’ll get you to level 70 and through GR20, a bit higher with a few levels on an LoD gem but you’ll want something more after that.
As a fresh 70 you don’t care about the AD anyway, and have poor resources, so just rely on the auto twisters for resource efficiency.
Yes. Static Discharge can also be very good for resources. It has a very high proc rate (the side bolts also proc stuff and have the same proc coefficient so it essentially has 3x the proc rate), Static Discharge + an APoC roll makes it trivial to sustain your resources. I’d use Static Discharge first (w/ APoC on source), then switch to Flame Ward if your resources seem good.
Maybe. The stationary effect of Wicked Wind is pretty useful, especially with Ranslor’s. It’ll suck everything in and then stuff stays where your twisters are, instead of stuff getting sucked in and then your twisters moving off. It’s basically a tradeoff between higher damage vs. more time in twisters. If you are one-shotting or nearly one-shotting stuff, then a non Wicked Wind rune is probably best because it doesn’t matter if they hang around. If your damage is lower, Wicked Wind probably wins out in long fights because of the longer contact time.
I believe it is applied when you are channeling without delay, but I’m not 100% on that.
Don’t forget you can also use Deathwish if you don’t have Valthek’s. E.g. you could run Twisted Sword + Etched Sigil, Deathwish cubed, and Ranslor’s. Valthek’s is better than Deathwish if you have both, but if not, Deathwish is a perfectly fine substitute to get another multiplier in. Particularly if you aren’t doing AD manual cast shenanigans.
I had some experience of playing 150s GRs on this build ( mostly on EU server, in the seasons 28, 30, and 32 ) Not with Etched Sigil, but with Orb of Infinite Depth. A very simple & smooth gameplay by casting Twister from the skill panel only. Yes, you will lose Sigil’s “250%” damage, receiving in return only 40% from the Orb, but… you have now about x5 thougness, the constant area damage and Squirt’s Necklace permanent buff ( in the Soul Shards season it was possible to use Endless Walk instead of Squirt + Karini ).
The only time I played with Sigil, trying to replicate the gameplay described on Maxroll was in season 31 ( Cube free slots ). Not sure if I did everything right, casting Twister from the panel at certain time intervals, but finally cleared 150 - mostly because of the huge damage buff from both of the offhands ( Sigil & Orb ) and Deathwish.
