Not really a new player just haven’t played in a very long time. A lot of things have changed and I’m having a lot of trouble getting certain items to drop.? Specifically the two staffs needed for the tal build, the karinis, and the mempo. I have gambled, i have upgraded rares, and i have run rifts like mad. No love. Now im obviously casual these days, but do play quite a bit. Without these items i can’t push GRs i need that extra damage. Any tips on easier ways to get these items? Am i missing a new game mechanic? Not utilizing some method im not aware of? My first and last wiz. Would like to go out with a bang before D4. Any help appreciated. Thank you.
Blood shards if it costs 25. Rings after that. Never use blood shards to gamble for amulets and weapons because they’re expensive and there’s just too many items in loot pool. For two staves you need (Smoldering Core and Grand Vizier) craft 20+ Sovereign Kerikeyon (level 70 rare staff) and make sure you have at least 1000 of each crafting material (reusable, arcane and veiled) and plenty of death’s breath too. Try to upgrade all the staves to legendary without closing cube.
Good Halo of Karini is probably hardest to get. You can use same craft and upgrade trick for it too or gamble blood shards for rings. If you get Karini that rolls with lower than 75% then just extract power to cube and wear Ring of Royal Grandeur.
Also if you’re below 1500 paragon craft Guardian bracers and belt if you haven’t already to give you much needed toughness boost.

Thanks. Right now i have two piece tals, 2 piece crimsons, and 2 piece other than guardians i forget, with royal ring and aether walker. I can do 45s but can’t get over to get the 1100 shard unlock for the altar. Just not enough damage without staves ,mempo and karinis. Guess its just all rng and mines been terrible. Running sages on follower for double db’s too. Don’t see how people have every piece of gear altar and season unlocked and running all perfect rolls and ancient primals! Some people just must have awesome luck i guess.
If you are in seasons, you should be concentrating on getting Haedrig’s Gifts. Once you get a full set, you will be able to farm at higher torments, where legendaries rain down. Gearing up is much easier that way.
Yeah normally that would be great but its the hydra set. I’m currently running 2 piece tal rasha, 2 piece auguilds, and 2 piece captain crimsons, because thats the best gear i can come up with so far. I have grandeur, and jordan rings. The build is tanky ok but doesn’t do enough damage without mempo and the 2 staves. And if i get decent karini ring i figure drop the crimsons and run tal rasha and auguilds. Idk. The damage is just not there without the helm and the staves.
Use the Hydra full piece set to farm the other stuff you need. Once you have it, ditch the Typhon’s if you want to. A full 6 piece set will far outshine, and farm much faster, than a 3, 2-piece combo.
Yeah i may retool and try that. I know that tal rasha/auguilds combo is consistent in all the gr 150 toons almost exclusively though.
But don’t focus too much on it. Your first goal should be to get to higher difficulties where you can easily farm. Good thing about Hydra build is that it is one of the best farming builds in game. Blood shards are easiest way to get last missing pieces you need for set. That’s exactly what I did. First I got to point where I can farm T16 and upto GR90 effortlessly on DH. Tal Rasha is rather weak before you get 6 piece bonus active.
Yeah im hitting t12 pretty effortless now and gr48 but ive hit a wall for sure. Might have to finish season and get hydra set. Im only missing like 1 thing in all the first 4 parts.
You only have to do the first 4 chapters to get the Hydra set - there’s still plenty of season journey after that.
