Will I get banned for simple macro?

I can’t stand left clicking no more. I would like to bind skill 2 or 3 to send LM each time I push it on keyboard, like having Primary & Interact on the same button.

Will they ban me if do such simple macro?

PS. I could do it by do it on separate key but this is one more key to use

Prob the same as all bliz games, 1 to 1 is fine. 1 to many= ban. Maybe a blue will chime in for a legit answer.

Most likely they wouldn’t ban.

Typically bans are for macros that either do something a human cannot do or that automate the gameplay to a large extent (I.e. Botting)

Simply having one of your skills just use LMB in addition doesn’t fall into either category. As it’s replicatable by simply pressing LMB (Or even using Num Lock trick) and still requires user input.

In addition to this, they wouldn’t have much reason to look into if you are in fact even using a macro for this. Unless you’re a prominent streamer and are pointing out specifically you using this macro… As the gameplay won’t be indicating anything nefarious (Like using bots or exploits would).

I can’t stand playing the game I paid for. I would like to run a bot and maphack.

Will they ban me if do such simple programs?

Put the skill on right click instead…

Technically, Left click does Interact and Fire Primary Skill at the same time. It opens Doors, walks and Fires. So I’m really not sure what skills you want to combine. In general, if you use a macro to combine 2 kills it would be illegal. Now, will they ever find out and ban you? I serious doubt that. They hardly ever ban people that blatantly bot, simply because it’s difficult to prove. So in your case, I don’t think they would even know.

Considering top 10-20 of leaderboards are all obvious botters every season and nothing ever gets done about them… I would say macros are fine

if you have to ask, then you already know the answer

Your point stands, there are lots of known botters that don’t get banned, so a little macro like this, while cheating, is very unlikely to get you banned.

However, there are legit players competing for the top of the leaderboards, lots if you include set-specific leaderboards, and your broad brush here painting everyone in top 10-20 as cheaters kindof hurts.

Wouldn’t that just be a key binding? Macros chain together inputs from my understanding.

Never heard of anyone banned for only macro.

is it against TOS? Yes. Will you get banned? Unlikely given blizzard’s failure to address far more egregious cheaters like botters.

It’s possible a macro would be easier to detect though, so there is definitely some risk.

I doubt that. Detecting a macro requires scanning for 3rd party software on the users device and identifying software that is being used to create the macro.

Detecting bots is as easy as looking at which accounts play for 24 hours a day, every day with no breaks (With the auto-log out on inactivity feature of the game itself filters out people who might log into the game and then go AFK/sleep)

It’s not though. Is that the likeliest scenario, sure, but there are legit scenarios that could produce that time as well. Blanket bans on that alone is an idiotic idea, probably why it’s not used anywhere.

The general rule of thumb is; “one action per button press”.
Since most gaming keyboards have macros and they still haven’t got rid of simple num lock auto cast tricks, I think you’ll be fine.

Just attend one of the skills to num lock and switch your slot 2 or slot 3 skill with left mouse button. It’s easier and it’s not really a macro.

There are no circumstances that can produce a legit scenario where a user plays for 24 hours a day 7 days a week with no breaks.

The only possible “Legit” scenario is account sharing with someone… Which is also against ToS and thus a bannable offence.

Unless your claim is that some people have surpassed the biological need for sustinance and rest (Or are somehow able to continue playing the game while sleeping)

Since again, the game will auto-kick you for inactivity if you go a few minutes without performing an action (Like, I’ll often get kicked if I go make a cup of tea)

It’s not though, you’re allowed to share the account with one minor. Which is to say you can share it with your 17 year old kid.

So again, botting is the likely cause for such playtime, but it’s not the only possible cause.

Playing 24 hours a day, perhaps but people here have, several times, insisted that people who play for 16 hours a day are 100% guaranteed botters when there are tons of gamers who play that much or more for months on end. Heck, 20 years ago, many people who played for 12 hours a day on WoW got banned and accused of botting.

In FFXI, many who grind for more than 5 hours get flagged.

It’s still likely a fringe scenario that even a parent an a single child will play a single character for 24 hours with no breaks constantly between server maintenance.

Like, maybe they’ll do it for a day or 2 to grind out like a Season or something. But beyond that?

The number of cases that will actually be relevant are easy enough to just deal with via ban contention. Where said “Legit” users indicate that they have been maintaining playing their character 24/7 for weeks on end.

So “guilty until proven innocent” then? Personally I’m not a fan of that in any respect.
