I really hope it is incorporated, Those are some of the best books ever written in my opnion, amazing story.
Lilith, is so evil it was great, if you havnt read the books or listened to the official audibooks i suggest you do so before launch, You will understand so much more about Lilith, Inarius, The Triune, Rathma+Trang’oul And many others
D3 Tyrael is awful , I hate it, His character is a pointless joke in my opinion.
Imperius told him off because he broke the most garbage agreement …so he had a cry and drops his wings??
Both sides of the Sin War came to an eventual agreement: in exchange for Inarius’s eternal imprisonment in the Burning Hells by Mephisto, Heaven and Hell would refrain from interfering in the affairs of Sanctuary and would instead allow humanity’s future generations to walk the paths of light or dark of their own …
Imagine being Imperius and continuing to follow a treaty from thousands of years while hell breaks the treaty for thousands of years lul
Tyrael could have gone Rogue like Malthael or Izual and kept his powers then he could have ACTUALLY HELPED IN USEFUL WAYS.
God i hope he gets his wings back and inarius nerfs all nephalem.
They said D4 takes place 40 years (dev live stream) after the events of RoS, heaven has closed it gates and no one will answer the phone. The only angel we might see in D4 is Inarius. Did he free himself from the chamber of mirrors or do we free him.
Luis: That’s right. Let’s set the stage a little bit. Alright. Diablo 4 takes place decades after the events of Reaper of Souls. The Malthael’s plans were foiled. The angel of death exacted a terrible toll on humanity; and Sanctuary has suffered great devastation. Entire populations decimated. Cities ravaged. Heaven itself suffered great, great losses causing them to shatter their gates–
I know but im sure, Tyrael will play his part in time.
I cant see him sitting idly by after all he has done and the speech he gave to imperius.
Also, Heavens Gates being closed, that probably just means WE as Nephalem are not welcome back, we went and helped out then were locked out after, Tyrael will surely come to us i just hope its not as an absolute pussy
Right now all we know is that Lilith is in charge, Inarius might want to do something about it and we could be stuck in the middle of these two warring factions. I would not expect to see any other angels in the base game.
“But it’s important to remember that Lilith is here, and now there’s a power vacuum. She is the ascendant power. She’s the tornado at our doorstep right now. There’s a hurricane off in the distance that we should probably be aware of, but Lilith is here, and she is in charge.”
I would assume that the “hurricane” is a reference to Diablo. We will need to see how it all plays out. Have they included any misdirection’s in the cinematics just like they do for movies. The preview looks like one thing but in the movie it is total different.
Thats so strange to me, I really hope they give us some story cinematics on youtube in the weeks before release, like they did with Lords of War for world of warcraft.
I do not understand how Lilith and Inarius have just appeared out of nowhere since not hearing about/from them since the Sin War books? Maybe im wrong and im missing some lore or a book, if so pls tell me
I dont get how we go from Malthael to Lilith&Inarius really hope its explained in a good way, was also hoping the netflix animated diablo series would drop and fill in the gaps from RoS-Diablo 4 guess not :(((
But i guess its also not too late to release the netflix series if it hasnt been cancelled officially lol
Yeah I seen these, Some of the best cinematics ive ever seen but i think you misunderstood
SHort backstory videos like they have done for wow characters before releasing expansions, Sure some of us know a lot about these characters, but others have no idea i want more info for us and them about the characters actual back story “thousands of years in 3mins”
The Q&A livestream right (I had missed that one)? If so, then I’m glad we finally got an exact number. I had a feeling that it was around that many years.
Truth be told, I think Tyrael is dead. In fact, I believe that 2019 gameplay trailer that showed the old man talking to the grave, was depicting Lorath, as an old man, speaking to Tyrael’s grave.
As of right now, we can only guess and speculate.
That said, my personal theories are these:
Regarding how Lilith was called forth, it’s either:
Lilith (some time before Inarius had imprisoned her again) had set up a fail-safe ritual that’d, under the right circumstances, release her from the void. The ritual being what we saw in the D4 unveil cinematic, allowed Lilith to escape the void while also bypassing Inarius’ additional mechanisms designed to keep her imprisoned.
Lilith, having previously been able to escape from the void, was unable to do so again, due to the additional changes Inarius had made, which kept her imprisoned. However, with the destruction of the Worldstone, Inarius’ seal against Lilith weakened and/or came undone, thus allowing Lilith the chance of returning to Sanctuary, via the assistance of someone outside of the void.
Lilith is still physically trapped within the Void. However, due to the ritual (as well as the sacrifices offered), she’s able to manifest her essence onto Sanctuary. To truly escape from the void, may require the assistances of many powerful Nephalem.
Those are my theories on why Lilith being able to escape the void.
As for Inarius.
My theory is mostly that we’ll be the ones to free Inarius (or at least assist the Pale Knights in doing so) during the story of Diablo 4.
I am interested in his story, how did he escape, how did he regenerate so fast, he does not appear to have and damage, why would he return to Hell to kill Lilith. Where were the Pale Knights all this time, what power does he have over others now that he no longer has the world stone. Could he ever return to the High Heaven to fight side-by-side with his brothers or is he forever banned. If Inarius and Lilith went at it one-on-one who would win? If both factions want to use us will be fighting both of them at the same time in a three-way-war. I wonder if we will get any clues next week, should be fun. I already know something about the Pale Knights but NDA. I hope others will see it in the beta so we can discuss it.
That’s honestly my biggest puzzlement regarding Inarius. Now it’s not to say that angels can’t recover, as we’ve seen at least two examples of an angel who suffered damage at the hands of a demon, and still recovered: Imperius when he suffered a slash to the arm from Diablo, and again when he was stabbed (again from Diablo). Despite suffering damage like that, Imperius had fully recover (physically at least) when we saw him again in RoS.
That said, I had figured that Mephisto would’ve been hell bent on permanently crippling Inarius via corruption, as we’ve seen that if an angel suffered enough demonic corruption, they wouldn’t be able to recover from it. Or if not that, then perhaps Mephisto would’ve gave Inarius the Izual treatment, of trapping his spirt/essence within a demon host, but since we saw Inarius in the cutscene without any true injury, it looks like Mephisto’s torture weren’t meant to inflict permanent corruption.
I could think of a few reasons as to why. But the biggest is simply that Lilith was a major reason as to why Inarius’ lost in the Sin Wars.
While he may no longer have the Worldstone, he is still a powerful Archangel as noted by Uldyssian himself, and it seems his imprisonment may not had diminished his powers in the slightest.
He’s likely forever banned. Or if he was allowed back in, he would no longer have the position that he once wielded, and instead would be scorned and/or mocked by his brethern. As far as Heaven’s concern (especially angels who dislike Humans/Nephalems), Inarius was the cause of everything that transpired, starting with the theft of the Worldstone.
As for the rest, we’ll definitely find out once Diablo 4 launches.
If thats true i think it would be ridiculous, he just went back to the high heavens as a mortal to die of old age? Pathetic.
Why the hell would we want to do that though? The people in this time dont know of the past i guess? Because if i was a nephalem id probably choose Liliths side over Inarius who nerfed us and wanted to kill us.
From a gaming stand point id like Inarius to nerf all nephalem so the game becomes really difficult at high world tiers lul
Tyrael actually cut ties with the High Heavens, or at least chose to stay on Sanctuary as a mortal. He also made mention that he may eventually die similar as a mortal would of old age.
That’s pretty much my guess. I’m guessing that because the world has gone to crap, and with Lilith returning, which apparently made things even worse, most folks (including our character) were desperate for a salvation, and most likely because of the Pale Knights religious belief, we came to believe that Inarius was likely that salvation, and thus we assisted the Pale Knights in (and this is merely my own speculation) freeing Inarius from Hell. However, we soon realize that Inarius is just as bad as Lilith and allowing the two of them to truly battle may destroy Sanctuary, as such we decided to go against the both of them.
I’m still under the belief he escaped sometime in between D2 and D3, maybe shortly after D3. He spent the last 40+ years recovering and rebuilding his following. If the launch date trailer is actual gameplay lore, I believe it happens prior to the start if the game where we find out or are under the belief Inarius is a good guy.
Makes no sense really. The worldstone does nit exist so the power to do so does not exist. Also, if we aren’t powerful, then completing the campaign and taking on who we have to kill wouldn’t make sense.
I doubt they will give away anything about the story. Atleast i hope not, like movie trailers showing all the key moments, so there’s no first hand surprise and tention, nothing intetesting, since they showed it all already.
There will be of course hints about previous lore, since everything happening in D4 is an accumulation of every event up to that point.
This go for many other different characters in the game. No idea what directors and writers were thinking. Voice acting is top notch but dialogue and personality-wise no character has any depth to it. So no matter the talented voice behind it, story fails to deliver. Game tries so hard to be a meme, it falls into obscurity sooner than that ever happening.
For example, each cutscene in the game can be summarized with: pointless small talk with missing context and concept of consequences then abrupt action usually followed by loud voices. Not one single cutscene in D3 has a dramatic effect or a thrill, it has no psychological impact or any kind of intensity or twist to it. When that’s the case, you never feel sorry or immerse yourself in the story let along the character.
If that was their goal to create a non-interesting linear story with rushed development that apparently took seven years and then some, then they succeeded it. Story curbs your expectations, doesn’t even have proper cutscenes for crucial key moments for who knows why and just pushes you into action. It’s a saturday morning cartoon or a very shoddily designed Warhammer campaign in a frat party which shouldn’t even exist. Who plays Warhammer tabletop in a frat party anyway?.. What?..
