Other character class pets share in the casters bonus damage from items.
Witch Doctor dart shooting fetishes gain a bonus from depth diggers and simplicity strength, Necromancer simulacrum’s gain those same bonus’s plus Leger’s Disdain.
Why don’t Arcane Hydra’s (they fire Arcane Orbs) receive bonus damage from items that boost Arcane Orb?
I suggested something similar as an effect for Magistrate before they updated it last time.
Now, given the latest changes and how Triumvirate and Unstable Scepter would only synergize with Arcane Hydra… the result will be an insane buff to Arcane Hydra compared to other Hydra runes. Just a rough thought:
Triumvirate alone is a stronger buff than current Deathwish + Etched Sigil combined. Pair that one with the Unstable Scepter damage buff plus double detonation mechanic and it’s easily more than ten times that… now just add Fragment into this picture for S22 (4th cube slot), you’d have a pretty easy time gaining Spectral stacks and Triumvirate stack in one go. Yup… nice.
Thinking further down that road, it becomes even more insane if Hydra Arcane Orbs would use your Arcane Orb instead, i.e. mirror your AO rune… damn, now I want to see that
Well, they way Triumvirate works, I do not think it would be as big a buff as you think. Each orb uses all the Triumvirate stacks you have, and with 3 heads shooting out orbs, you would never be able to keep up full stacks. Extend that to using the Typhon set with Serpent Sparker, and you have 10 heads firing orbs, then you end up with some of those orbs having a single (up to 400%) damage bonus, instead of all of them having a 1200% bonus.
Yes, this would make the arcane rune the “go to” rune, and yes it would make the hydra build more powerful, but, most builds have a “go to” rune that 90% of the player base uses, and I do not believe, even with the power increase, that this would make Hydra Wiz more powerful than the GoD DH. ( I could be wrong about the power level, but would love to see it tested)
Admittedly, it’s been a while since I last played with Triumvirate, but as far as I remember casting Arcane Orb does not consume Triumvirate stacks… they last 6 seconds, no matter how many Orbs you shoot. You might be confusing that with Arcane Dynamo stacks…
That is correct. As long as you keep casting a signature spell to keep up the Triumvirate buff, your Triumvirate stacks will be retained regardless of how many arcane orbs you cast. That said I would prefer if they upped the duration of the stacks to at least 8 or more seconds.
OK, you are correct, I did think they worked like Dynamo stacks and they do not.
I should have tested it more before I opened my big mouth.
However, I still believe it is unfair to Wizard that other class pets gain these bonuses, and Wizard does not. So, Triumvirate would need a change as well, but it is still a change I believe should be implemented. Perhaps they could change it to work like Dynamo, it would nerf its use with Hydra’s, but not overly hurt the pure Arcane Orb builds.
Hydra dose alter the wizard as a class, and I see that this was intended to shift with equipment for more flexible load out statistics. Why hydra instead of summonings?
Because to summon a creature really took more magic ability, and by these rules the location of the star map for the equipment has to support that life form. I could only manage a few summonings, at best. A hydra is a class exception.
Without a hydra controlling the development of the wizard, it would probably have been a rogue not wizard and rogue. Just because it’s a stronger build in combat. If you want to run out of time, that’s one way to accomplish it quickly. Assassin.
That is what the hydra part is about, if you are asking. These messed with summoning, but the hydra summons things on its own, and saves there combat wizard builds. Otherwise a wizard class would be a random summoning, not an exception. The wizard class could have been other types of blade, instead of the hydra build.
Ice mastery made this a good choice, but where this is considered draconic, is not completely accurate. I should just say that, if it was a merlin key, then it would be color coded, for each unit type. You would want more colors of the same stance and form. That would represent a better selection of talents.
