I’d actually be OK with this… I’ve yet to finish speccing up my MOTE builds and would delay my need to unlock the altar again or do stash tetris.
Of course, I’d really like confirmation of this as I would consider starting a WD after finishing up with my Barb. That’ll actually require me to delete my HC WD for the free character slot (and find room in the HC stash to save some of the builds) so confirmation of a 6 month season at this point would be nice.
My gut feeling though… they auto end of season messages haven’t been released yet again and we’ll just get a sudden end to the season.
The problem is that explaining the joke will inherently make it less funny.
Higher-ups was the phrase I was turning. The pun exists in the fact that Blizz only very recently hired the upper management responsible for D4 relative to their summary existence on this planet as a corporate entity, and that those higher ups were hired up higher than they should have been, because their leadership and overall game dev skills are trash-tier.
Meanwhile, had they simply taken a ground-level approach, they could have seen the common man’s perspective of what happened with D3, and said “let’s not repeat the mistakes of those who came before us.” We don’t need to be “refining a rushed product over time (read: decades).” We could have started with the commonwealth experiences built on decades of iterative process already.
So when I said “hire ups” I was playing on all of that, is all. “To turn a phrase” was the subtle nod.
What’s really pathetic is that Blizzard has a “community manager”, so they have at least one more person on staff.
Are they so busy they can’t post an update on the Season 35 start?
They could at least post something like “We know everyone is anxiously awaiting for information regarding the S35 theme and start date. We will post an update as soon as we get information from the D3 team”.
I think the root issue is they most likely no longer have a team dedicated to D3 in the first place. No one from which to receive the information we’re waiting on
Doesn’t excuse the lack of communication, imo. All said and done, it’s not exactly difficult to automate the process if they absolutely cannot afford a token intern to make a throwaway post every 3 months.
Someone “educational” once said there’s no team for D3,
so just relax and expect for nothing would make you feel better.
By the way, the seasonal altar in switch disappeared.
Let’s wait and see how long the nerve system in Blizzard will response.
They will post an update. They will post about S35 2-3 weeks before it happens. This is they way it has been for pretty much all seasons.
So when you have been stuck on the phone for 35 minutes listening to elevator music and get the “All representatives are currently busy. Please stay on the line.” every 2 minutes, does this reassure you and make you feel better than if the message didn’t interrupt the elevator music?
all seasons should be no longer than 2 months +or- a few days to land the new start on a friday. new themes are over with right? skeleton crew maintenence mode, everything should be the same every time at this point, but its not. we’re seeing botched endings, delayed starts. there are a ton of people who still love playing this game AT SEASON START for the love of the rush. Then because of the current game design we have to play something else for 2 months and wait for the announcements for the new season THAT THEY CANT MANAGE TO BE CONSISTENT WITH. this isnt waiting on hold on a phone, this is getting the recording “im sorry, the number you are trying to reach, has been disconnencted…”
How is that not like being stuck on hold on a phone? You want answer immediately. You are stuck waiting for an indiscriminate amount of time. The only difference is, we just get the elevator music and not the “no Sherlock” message every 2 minutes. I was simply asking the person I responded to if they would feel better with some lame automated message that the next season is coming soon.
Difference is, they have D4. It is still a mess. They make changes that cause delays and extend their seasons. This affects D3. Don’t believe me? Look at all the threads where people were mad because the D3 season started too close to the D4 seasons.
Yes, D3 is currently dead maintenance-wise. The thing is there is still other factors that affect the season starts and finishes. If they announced all the season starts and finishes for the rest of eternity, and something happened to change the dates, there would be a ton of threads with people raging because they changed it. This is why they let us know 2-3 weeks out when things are pretty much set in stone.
It’s not exactly “maintenance”. Whichever theme they’re going to use for 35, didn’t have the Altar of Rites, and the Echoing Nightmare. Didn’t have the Primordial Ashes. They have to balance the new with the old, make sure nothing breaks.
Someone is actually doing work on “seasons” to make it play with the new options. Just make sure the new stuff is going to run ok in the old seasonal theme, whichever it will be. It’s not a lot that has to be done…but it has to be done.
It’s probably just one guy doing it that also has to handle something else from another game.
To me, “maintenance” would mean no one is doing anything, and seasons automatically running themselves.
Pieceing it together is probably minor, but it has to be done.
Or, anyway, that’s my excuse they have to account why no one has said anything yet, why they’re not ready to do it yet.
Do we think there is any chance s35 will start today (may 4th)? I know there’s normally some kind of announcement, but I’m desperately trying to finish the last conquest so could do with a bit more time!
For starters, quick turnarounds is not something Blizzard is known for, nor should it be fore ending and starting a season. Imagine how many people they will piss off by ending the current season without the heads up. Or starting a new season without a heads up. Players want to be able to plan to have the day off to do season start.
Social media will claim anything without any basis. Current season blog supposed to give a heads up about two weeks ago before its declared end date. That is unless we repeat what happened in S33 and Season ends abruptly due to a miscommunication, which was a mistake on their part. They never leap forward and end Season without an announcement or a blog post otherwise.
My guess is either they’re working on the crashes happening for Mac and some old systems after the recent patch, or they await China server which allegedly started the Season 34 late.
