So way back in 2011, I got Diablo 3 for free by getting the WoW Annual Pass at that time. I played my D3 character to level 60 and everything, and now in preparation for Diablo 4 and Diablo 2 Remake, I wanted to play D3 again, but why is it now a Starter Edition?

I’m seeing a note on your account that indicates one of the WoW subscription payments failed for the WoW Annual Pass, back in December 2012. The WoW mount and Diablo 3 were removed from the account due to this.
Sorry for the bad news but hopefully that helps clear it up.

As a reminder, the Annual pass was not a one time payment, it was a contract to pay your sub each month for a year.
If your credit card expired or there was some other disruption, you had a grace time to put a new payment on it without the contract ending. If it did end, there was still a limited time to contact CS and they could help restart the contract - and you would pay the missing months. If it went too long though it was out of the hands of CS. The ability of CS to take makup payments ended quite a few years ago.
