Why is Blizzard didn't disabled comments and dislikes function for the Diablo Immortal at that time?

Considering that most big game companies are doing that on YouTube…

Every Square Enix videos on YouTube has disabled comments and like/dislike feature.

Every Apple videos on YouTube has disabled comments and like/dislike feature.

Heck, even Sony is doing it now with their recent TLOU2 offical trailer.

So why doesn’t Blizzard doesn’t do the same, especially for Diablo Immortal at that time?

Is it they can’t do that or they just willing to accept those negative receptions for whatever reasons?

And do you glad that Blizzard didn’t disabled the YouTube comments and dislikes?

All that feedback they got back from fans was a good thing for Blizz.

They made a horrible decision.
They got roasted at their own Con for it.
They got roasted on YouTube and all over the internet.

Hopefully, they learned the lesson that their customer base is not a bunch of dumb bags of money. Their fans are what built their company. They need to take care of their fan base first, then branch out on side projects. The way they demoed D4 seems like they got the message, hopefully, they will come through on it and give the fan base a polished, quality, finished game that their fan base actually wants. We have big bags of money to throw at them, but we aren’t going to throw it at trash.

I believe that’s because “big game companies” are posting information about and promoting their products. They’re not looking for comments on the videos and the “Likes”/“Dislikes” aren’t necessary for their trailers and/or ads.

Also, this is an option in your YouTube Account Settings. For example, my YouTube Channel has comments and Likes/Dislikes enabled by default. But, if I wanted, I could disable them.

So, if the owner of the YT Account does not want these options, they can disable them. If Blizzard is not doing this, it’s probably because they want the feedback and reactions from their viewers.

I need a phone that can play immortal…

Quick! Let’s censor people’s opinions!

That totally won’t snowball out of control!

Sits with the knowledge of the past 1,000 years of history of dictators.

Edit:

Inb4 “Muh private company”

Go play Shadowrun or read a good cyberpunk setting.

Because there’s no “Dislikes” and there’s no “Bad comments” on Youtube.

YT treats both dislikes and any comment as engagement and promotes that video.

A video with 100k dislikes and 0 likes will do better than a video with 10K likes.

That’s just how the algorhythm works.

The reason why some companies disable these instruments is because they promote the video outside YT. Or they simply think that it’s bad PR and not worth it.

But not everyone is the same, and some think that negative PR is acceptable.

More people have heard about D:I than there would have been if there was no outrage. And the beauty of that is, that a good chunk of those people who are not Diablo “Fans” will not give two damns about dislikes or the outrage. They’d watch the trailer and thin that it’s a damn cool game for Mobile platform, and many would want to play it.

The absolute WORST thing that you can do to hurt a company - is ignore it. If you pour buckets of dirt onto it - you’re merely serving as free promotion. You may think that you’re hurting Blizzard by leaving a dislike and an angry comment - but 99.99% of people will not read your comment, and even if they do - they would judge the video for themselves and not generate an opinion based on dislike meter.

The only thing that matters is that they watch the video.
95% dislike ratio of a game trailer is by far a better attention bait than 95% like ratio is.
