WHY IN THE HELL??? is it when you try to enter a Greater Rift multiplayer game you can enter games already in process?? This is a huge waste of time!! It screws the people already in the GRift!! Once a Greater Rift is started that game should be closed until complete. PLEASE FIX THIS - IT IS A HUGE PAIN IN THE A**!!
Actually some seasons ago you cant. But some guys like you in the opposite spectrum wanted what you are yelling at now.
uhm whats the deal? if you join a group in progress, just wait.
for the people inside the grift, the grift is not getting harder cause there is more people OUTSIDE
The deal is that you want to play a GR, not sit in town waiting up to 15 minutes to play one. This is a change that I don’t remember anyone asking for, and not many think was a good idea and would like reverted.
Yeah? Care to point me in the direction of said players that actually wanted this change?
Old forums dearie. Take meteorblades word that there was a time that players did ask for such a change
I’m not sure you understood what he wrote. But I was part of the old forum, I don’t remember anyone ever asking to be able to join a public GR midprogress? Especially when you gain absolutely nothing from it? I don’t see it, but maybe someone else does.
The problem is not actually that you have to wait per se. Uasually they can never finish the grift because they are not strong enough.
I literally said I don’t remember anyone asking for the change.
I do remember people asking for it to be reverted though.
I believe long time ago we couldnt join a game that had a GR already in progress. This was actually also an issue too. Some players were complaining that it was super difficult to find public GR games, that they would always end up creating their own game and never finding one with other players. This is why we can now join GR games that has a GR in progress, we literally asked for this lol…
Personally I rather join a GR game that has a GR in progress and wait than not being able to find a game with other players for minutes…
Not really. Those announcements that says “our foes are stronger/weaker now” only applies to outside the GR. If you start a GR with 4 players and someone decided to leave, it stays at 4 player difficulty even with 3 players in the game. If you start a GR with 3 players and someone joins, it stays at 3 player difficulty even with 4 players in the game.
I haven’t done public games for a minute, for various reasons, but if I did…I can definitely say it would honk me off to some degree if I had to stand there with my thumb…idle…for up to 15min while the host finishes up.
Faster, faster, faster, more, more, more. That is the mantra of this game. Standing around while you wait for somebody else doesn’t seem like it fills that hole.
oh my…
The best solution would be a proper game selector, where you can specify the GR level range you want and join like-minded people - would prevent all this trouble.
What is the actual difference? Does it comfort you to sit in town with 3 other players trying to finish their rift? Because surely you are actually not saving any time at all. With the old system, as soon as they are done with their rift, you would automatically enter their game (or another fresh one). You didn’t actually gain anything, and instead have to potentially waste time waiting for a group that might take longer than 5min to finish their rift.
That has already been explained, it’s not getting harder for the people who are already running.
I remember that as well.
I suppose waiting in town feels different than waiting in the queue.
I don’t mind either, but I really would like a GR finder where people could specify what they want (and are able!) to run.
This is the real problem. There’s no way in the public selection process to specify Normal rifts from Greater ones. So when you’re looking for pug runs to quickly get some DBs and trash legendary items to feed the forge you join a game only to find a 10+ minute wait in front of you while a tank slowly plods thru some push rift. Instead of picking up piles of DB’s and maybe a sweet legendary you leave, rejoin another pub only to end up back in the same damn instance. But, heh, now it’s only a 9 minute wait for the guy grinding his GR65. So you exit, start a private game, open it the public and wait for people to find your instance. Basically the UI is borked and Blizzard is unlikely to do anything about it.
When this change was first introduced, everyone complained - I don’t remember a single person on these forums who would have actually asked for this or said that it was a good idea. And as per usual, Blizz chose to ignore everyone’s opinion and left it as is, resulting in people connecting and re-connecting endlessly…
I may be misunderstanding what you mean, but if I’m not, what you’re saying is incorrect. When selecting the type of pub game, you can choose either “Rift” (i.e. key/DB farming) or “Greater Rift.”
Public GR games are terrible any way you slice it. There’s always some guy AFK or another that clicks OK and then leaves game. Then you have the classic over achiever who clicks level 100 but is only capable of maybe doing T10.
Yeah - Pub GRs are just a bust. I’ll stick to solo or grouping with people on my friends list.
