Hello!
I have noticed some zDH’s are using calamity in high 4player clears (North America), either equipping it or cubing it. Some have MfD on their skill bar, some don’t. Also, some roll bleed damage on their Calamity.
I was under the impression calamity does not work with GoD set (only the manual casts do). Unless, of course the multishots are applying MfD very easily, too.
Is there any insight on this? Pros and cons of specific setups? Reasoning for bleed (to better keep up toxin?)
Thanks!
Bleed is at best used to proc pain enhancer. If nobody has pain enhancer it’s useless.
Of course, multishot procs calamity’s MfD but only enemy can have a MfD applied by calamity, so it’s really only used to get 15% additive damage on boss.
Note that multishot should be used at least once every 2 seconds to keep iceblink’s buff up.
Either way, there is nothing to use on zDH as it’s already an unkillable support so even if the damage is inconsequential, there is no reason not to use it.
From what I understand Calamity’s problem is that it doesn’t apply MfD every time / hit. It’s not totally broken that it never applies MFD at all. I could be mistaken though.
I think they had to add an internal cooldown to how often MfD could proc from Calamity due to it causing massive lag especially when there were a ton of monsters. I’m pretty sure this was done pre Loot 2.0/RoS because people were farming Wretched Mothers in Act 1 at Inferno/MP10.
It’s only there because of 4th cube slot and nothing better available.
I have seen that a few times. Calamity (either cube or equip) with a zDH that uses the 4 pc bonus of GoD. However, I see it more often with zDH builds that don’t use any GoD pieces. They use either 2 pc UE bonus for the hatred/discipline regen or 2 pc Mara bonus w/the pet belt for extra toughness. I actually saw one build that didn’t have any set pieces at all and had the Calamity in the second (off hand) weapon slot on their character.
From what I heard, Calamity doesn’t stack the move/damage bonus very well to make the GoD set viable for DPS or Support. I can’t see that being helpful to a support role at all, especially when they need those stacks to move faster to scout ahead for rares/champs and pylons.
Maybe the player doesn’t have a better weapon to equip or place in the cube? Or maybe they think it will be beneficial in some way? Who really knows besides the actual player? Plus, isn’t there at least a half of dozen zDH variants out there in S22?
what are zDH
zDH = Zero-Damage Demon Hunter
In Diablo III parlance, any time you see a z in front of a class, it means that class is there to provide support to the other players rather than provide damage.
Oh, ok. I am a hopeless noob, as you might have guessed.
