Ahh, so thats where it stems from, blizzard announced they wont have mod support so now forums are outraged with ppl not having their way with mods. If you cant have your way, we “purists” are not allowed to have our way, am i right? I have nothing against mods, but executing it with expense of core game is not the way to do it. I get it i really do, your disheartened about those news about mod support and having it all added to d2r is the last string of hope to make it happen. To make D2R the resurrected PD2. But really, its not the right way to go about it.
And on sidenote im not against small QoL changes and i think these so called “purists” over all arent either, but too much is too much, and i think blizzard can see this too. Thats why compromises have already been made, i hope all can find a common ground that is not with the expense of core game.
That poll was linked on r/diablo, r/diablo2, Blizzard’s D2R forum, d2jsp, Rhykker’s youtube, twitter to name just a few…
You do not need to survey the vast majority of the playerbase to get an idea about what the playerbase overall wants. You need to select a representative sample that accurately models the playerbase that has sufficient statistical power. For something like this, the sample size tends to be in the hundred and not thousands. That is why most polls have an average +/- an associated error rate.
The poll has sampling bias. This is not in dispute. However, every D2R poll and forum independently supports that these results are qualitatively accurate.
Blizzard has repeatedly said additional changes are possible in D2R if the players want them.
Rod Fergusson apparently confirmed that more “new features” are coming to D2R after launch via twitter. The identity of those “new features” remains unknown.
Shortly thereafter, Rod Fergusson commented via twitter that there were a number of good ideas for D2R game changes in the reddit poll.
The reddit poll by u/Chrompower with nearly 9000 responses clearly indicates that you’re wrong. Out of 23 questions about suggested changes, over half of those suggested had around a 70% approval rate. The other half were at a around 50% approval rate.
We aren’t making up bold statements without evidence. People want changes.
I know that in my case it’s because I have a condition called Essential Tremors (parkinson’s light) which means that I can’t mouse-click as accurately because my hands shake. It developed after I reached my 20s and it’s gotten worse over the years. I’m really glad they added controllers as an option since I’m going to have to use one in order to stand the slightest chance of getting loot in multiplayer.
Sometimes loving something means changing it to make it better or keep it alive. It’s like wanting your chain-smoking parents to quit smoking, knowing that it will eventually kill them.
How about nearly 9000 of them? That’s a pretty solid sample size right there. Not everyone on reddit is a “streamersimp”. Perhaps you should have participated in this poll as it was linked on these forums, the D2JSP forums, and several others.
Also, I doubt “streamersimps” killed off Classic WoW; it died because it was an exact replica of the original game and people realized 15 years later just how bad it was when they finally played it again and it blew off their rose-colored glasses.
Yes, the Great Majority™ here do know how Diablo 2 plays, which is why a lot of them are asking for changes. See the poll that was created by reddit user /u/Chrompower.
Me too.
Now, back to the Original Topic
Here’s the list of reasons I’ve seen so far promoting #nochanges:
Adding optional alternative loot modes will make drop rates higher and could destroy/ruin the game.
Adding quality of life changes will make the game easier and could destroy/ruin the game.
Changing class skill balance will make the game easier and could destroy/ruin the game.
What I’m getting so far is that people who are in favor of #nochanges don’t want the game to be made any easier. I’m totally in agreement. I’m also sure there are other reasons why people are so vehemently opposed to any changes, so please point them out to me.
Can someone who is in favor of #nochanges help me add to the list here and help me understand the reasons behind them? I really am trying to understand where you’re coming from.
if they rely on changing a remaster (find the mistake?) to pay their developers they are lost anyways.
what they should do is bring those talented people on the new games and make them exactly like the people here want, with all the quality of life and comfort gaming features one can dream about.
“will make” is your prediction. It is not a foregone conclusion but I will not exclude the possibility that a change in drop rates may happen; however, it will be due to widespread complaints even among those that support FFA loot.
“could” is your prediction. The reality is highly unlikely.
No. Changing balance does not make the game easier. In fact it could result in nerfs to overpowered builds and buffs to underperforming build. Therefore, the game may actually become harder.
This is not MY prediction; I am not in the #nochanges camp. These are just the list of reasons behind the #nochanges movement from what I’ve seen based on the responses in this thread and others.
That’s exactly how you manipulate statistics which makes it a non scientific branch of mathematics.
“to manipulate the outcome of result you want.”
For example: “Every russian inhabitant would prefer a different president than Putin. The representative sample was taken only in Moskow and only leftists were sent a survey letter.”
What about Russian residents in other parts of Russia? What about non-leftists in Moskow? Statistical manipulation. A pseudoscience.
The poll is biased and manipulated by the D2:Reddit army. It’s a fraud and trying to take over D2:Resurrected. If 1000 survey participants are representative for 50.000 players, even though I have not checked any factual numbers this is just serving as an example to make it obvious to you, 2% is not a margin to give in to demands.
Most people who don’t care and wisely ignore those attention seekers will never commit filling in a survey which serves no other purpose than pursuing the demands of attention seeking streamers and their simping army.
What? First it is not my poll. The first full release of data was from >4,000 respondents. The current release (not yet full release) was almost 9,000.
You clearly are confused. I think you must lack knowledge or referring to some other polll. If so, you should remedy your error.
Please read my quote. You need to select a representative sample that accurately models the playerbase that has sufficient statistical power. If that sample is representative you are not manipulating the outcome that you want.
This is about sampling bias. I admit that the poll has sampling bias.
This poll was advertised on twitter, d2jsp, Blizzard’s D2R forum, Rhykker’s youtube channel. Its results are consistent with every poll released to date that has a decent sample size.
Whats happening in WoW? It became a terrible Game because of quite alot Changes and TBCC made people angry because of greed (Levelboost).
Its not really the fault of the players that this Company became uncapable of developing Games. Like im still wondering to this day, if the original Diablo 3 wich theyve canceled ~2008 wouldve been better, im guessing it couldve been, atleast the music wich theyve thrown into WoW from it said that it was better.
But it wasnt our choice, either way… even call of duty sells huge numbers without doing sth entirely new, so theres that. On the other side you have blizzard doing many things worse over time and not doing much at all.
I always feel like World of Warcraft killed the entire Company, too much focus and too much money came from it and the Company overall became lazy af.
I purchase what i enjoy and like, this currently is D2:R and TBCC. SC2 isnt my longtime kind of Game but a Warcraft 4 doesnt exist either and Heroes of the Storm was the absolutely terrible version, far behind DotA and League of Legends, the simplicity was so extreme, it was more like stupidity.
Retail WoW is a overdeveloped Game that has outdated and boring Gamemechanics, its super difficult to keep people excited for 1-2 Months with a new Expansion nowadays.
The Company lost itself in one single Game and forgot about all others and i think that Game kept the Company alive for so long, nothing else did since they didnt do much.
Anyways, Dreamhaven sounds promising for now, we’ll see if we find the new Blizzard in their products in the future. I honestly dont care what the Blues do, im here to consume products but there are simply none.
This isnt btw. only a Blue-Problem, other Companys greatly fail to make great products also, like EA and Need for Speed Underground/Most Wanted, compare these Masterpieces with the Trash they currently develop. DICE has failed multiple Battlefield Games in a row, BF4, Hardline, BF1 and BF5.
But atleast theyve made some and they were worth a try or one or two subscription(s) of EA Play.
Ubisoft the exact same also, Rainbow Six Siege and Far Cry 3 and wheres Splinter Cell? Error 404 not found. For Honor has had huge potential and was insane fun but with that garbage Netcode and server issues they released that Game with, it died very quick.
I see the issue with these Companys beeing the money aspect, they print generic copy pasta Games all day long not trying sth new, not thinking long enough in the first place etc.
Like it doesnt need much, it doesnt even need a super new unused idea… plenty of Games have excellent (lost) mechanics that you can just combine into a Game.
The old blizzard simply just released a product and if people enjoyed it, they bought it. The current blizzard trys to make every player, even my dead grandma happy and then the games suck hard.
Like imagine they would try to make Casuals of SC2 more happy how would the Game be patched? - Skill + more Stupidity = Casualfriendly = Trashgame.
What Games need is longtime enjoyment and that cant be done by making a game so simplistic that it is equal to beeing stupid.
The old Games were all easy to learn but yet hard to master, hell… even Overwatch has got that untill theyve thought its a good idea to put the classes on speed so it becomes an ADHD simulator from the get go.
Small bugs have been part of the Game, theyve added depth to them and today everything that isnt obvious needs to leave the Game… like why? to make a terrible product?
For some reason games became more like a commercial thing, if your grandma cant handle it then it needs to be fixed so she can and because since then the game is so terrible that it doesnt sell well they need to throw stuff into the store to milk out those who have purchased.
Like this is literally the Gaming of Today, too damn easy and boring Games without any depth for longtime enjoyment.
This took a long time to read. It’s also very off-topic, ranting about how Blizzard and other developers are making garbage games, but it seems to me that you’re in the #nochanges camp because you don’t want the game to be made any easier.
Would you object to changes that made the game more challenging and gave it greater depth?
if that is what it takes to topple a giant, than so shall it be and let another head take its place Hail Hydra… cant say for everyone but i do belive most of the “purist” you call them as an insult are not directly against changes, they are against BAD changes, and making the game easier and easier, making crutches and catering to the weak willed and weak minded players. or those who want instant gratification and no accountability. i am in for graphic overhaul, thank you, i’m also in on the auto toggle ( if they fix it ) i also like the shared stash. these are changes, even if you do not reconize them as such but they are, auto gold pick up is also a change and an addition. i do not like the respec tokens, or even the 1 free respec per defficulty but they are there i would love for that to change and be removed. that would be a change too, you might see it as a bad one and you would refute it deny it from being added, but to me its an improvement. but that thing will impact EVERYONE whether you think it will or not… VV will suffer alot, if they make changes that harm the game and their reputation, what they are doing right now, might seem and feel like a + but when the game is released and people experience the game after giving the new changes a chance and still dont agree with them but tried them just because they had faith… well that faith will turn into dissapointment and less faith in their future… sht games brings about a S*Ht profit and reputation… Reputation is what sells the next game
