The question is already in the topic, why are ARM based Macs not allowed to install Diablo Immortal?
Because it’s not economically feasible to jump trough Apples hoops. Most of Blizzards games do not support mac.
Did you not read this 3 letters ARM?
Did you not read these 3 letters: mac?
I did, but what do they matter?
Any ARM based Mac can run any iOS app native, the only thing Blizzard has to do is to tell the Appstore Yes we allow this App to be installed on Mac.
Because they won’t be helpful to Apple when Apple is purposely being a pain in the behind to develop for?
So why are they developing for iOS then?
The pain to develop for Apple is on iOS not on MacOS, and if you already have a working iOS app there is 0 additional effort to make it available for MacOS
My point. It’s taking a stand though.
Because macs and ios are for boomers. And the odds of a boomer becoming a whale are pretty much zero
You know that iOS users are way more likely to spent money on an app then Android users?
Got a source for that?

So, Apple users are suckers.
Yeah, that tracks.
Boomer apple users aren’t wasting their money on video games.
Sure they’ll waste their money on basically everything else like the over priced slave made apple devices they’re using. But they won’t spend that money on games
Well that´s why everyone does not wanna miss iOS.
I mean Kargon is right with Apples attitude and their conditions to get into the Appstore.
But this only involves iOS, as you do not need the AppStore to get on MacOS.
And if you already managed the troubles to get on iOS it seems to be odd to leave out MacOS, as you get it literally for free once you are already on iOS.
iPhones are a significant portion of the mobile phone market.
Macs are an insignificant portion of the home computer market.
So, maybe they’re only releasing the game to markets where there are lots of customers.
This argument would be perfectly valid if you had to put more work into it. But you do not have to, MacOS can already run iOS apps, and the iOS app already exists. It is literally just a flag that says install on iphone yes/no install on ipad yes/no install on mac yes/no.
Actually it was even possible to circumvent this and install any iOS app on Mac regardless if it was “allowed”.
In theory… yes, that’s all that is required. The problem is it never works out that way. The myth of “test once, run everywhere” is just that – a myth. If Blizzard feels there are enough Mac desktop users that want D:I they’ll add someone to test it as part of the development and then flip that setting. But if they don’t test and flip the setting and things start going wrong (which is practically guaranteed for something as complex as D:I) then they’ll have to deal with irate customers and refunds.
Sure, but then Blizzard is not responsible to making sure it works.
