From what I’ve been told in the past is that solo thorns is extremely rift-hunting based, as well as fishing for specific elites affixes? Certain RG’s apparently you cant even beat unless you get to them with 4-5min to spare, while others will go down quickly.
Not sure if this is going to be enjoyable but solo mages and solo CL build are a bit squishy for my liking.
All the top 100 solo necros all use thorns so I guess it out-performs even Corpse Lance and mages.

Look for Raxxanterax’s guides on youtube, he generally has the best necro stuff

I normally go to Lord Fluffy for up to date necro builds to see what’s new but he doesn’t have anything recent on thorns.
Fluffy hate’s necro thorns that’s why he doesn’t have a guide lol but ya like Caladon said Rax has the best for necro guides
I think it is pretty fun solo, but you really have to fish. In one rift I was trying to solo around 115 and went up probably 6 minutes within the first minute or two, but nothing lined up after that and I had to abandon the rift because I fell so far behind.

Right, I think I recall him saying that now but thought it was just LotD-based builds he was sick of.
Ya, see this is annoying I reckon which makes me wonder if all these high solo necro clears are after many attempts at rift fishing.
I might just stick with lance or mages but it seems like the high GR’s really need the toughness from thorns.

They for sure are.
It is kind of funny when I go off to solo a different class and get a ton of frozen mobs, and think to myself “where the Hell was this when I was on my thorns necro.”
It is worth at least stashing the gear for though because nothing else really plays anything like it. If anything it changes things up for a bit.

The one thing about Raxx’s guide is he postulated that Death Watch Mantle triggered some kind of necro proc, I believe it was Kyrsbin’s, then I attempted to confirm with him several times, and he never replied.
I still don’t know if it works. Seems odd.

Ya I like the idea of thorns (when I made a thorns barb years ago) but I’m not sure I can deal with fishing. RGK thorns I might be able to handle.
Honestly, necro just seems to great for season b/c of rat runs and xp grinding so I guess it’s necro again.
