Attack speed or Area Damage?
Is this wand good enough to use caldesann despair on it?
Attack speed, assuming you meet the breakpoints.
For Typhon’s right? (Frost Hydra and Mammoth Hydra have different breakpoints, so it matters).
To hit the 30 fpa breakpoint for Frost Hydra, you need 7% on wand, 7% on gloves, 7% on one ring, AND 50% Tasker’s. Any less than that won’t do (unless you take Enchantress, which gives you 3 IAS of leeway).
So if you don’t have perfect rolls and you are playing Typhon’s, you either need to pick up attack speed on your other ring too… or you should just drop it everywhere except gloves.
If you don’t have enough to hit 30 fpa, you can hit 36 fpa with 7/42+, 6/44+, or 5/45+ Tasker’s alone (well, w/ paragon), don’t need attack speed anywhere else. So if you can’t hit 30 fpa, you don’t actually want to have attack speed on wand. But ideally you’ll want to target the 30 fpa breakpoint, which means getting attack speed on wand. But you’ll need appropriate gloves and ring too, if you don’t have that than IAS on your wand is a waste.
I’d recommend importing your setup into d3planner and seeing if you can meet the breakpoint, then decide if it’s worth having IAS on your wand. Eventually you’ll want to hit that breakpoint, so you’ll want it on your wand then, but you might be better off with area damage for now if you can’t quite reach the breakpoint.
The only attack speed affix I got is from the wand itself.
and I didn’t use Tasker and Theo because I am using Echoing Fury.
So I guess Area Damage is more reliable in this scenario?
So no IAS anywhere except the wand in question with Echoing Fury in the cube and no Tasker’s?
So with vs. without IAS on wand and Echoing Fury with no Tasker’s and no IAS except paragon:
Echoing Fury stacks | AD on wand | 7 IAS on wand |
---|---|---|
0 | 60 | 54 |
1 | 54 | 48 |
2 | 48 | 42 |
3 | 42 | 42 |
4 | 36 | 36 |
5 | 36 | 36 |
So having IAS only bumps you up a breakpoint at 0, 1, or 2 Echoing Fury stacks. At 3-5 stacks it makes no difference. I probably wouldn’t bother in this situation.
That being said… I think I’d recommend Tasker’s over Echoing Fury, unless you REALLY want the movement speed.
Tasker’s will mean you are basically always at the 36 fpa breakpoint. Running Tasker’s is basically always like having 4-5 stacks of Echoing Fury for your hydras. It should be a lot more consistent.
Yes. Well, I wouldn’t use a really high one on it, but it’s at least worth have a 100 or a 110 if you have one to burn.
Decent damage range with % damage and 292 affix is solid. You’re missing about 7% DPS off the damage range from a primal with 10% damage, and another 2% (relative DPS) off the affix. So a little under 10% below a 10/7/300 primal. This wand is nearly as a good as a primal that can only have one of 10% damage, 7% IAS, or 24% AD. A poorly rolled primal wouldn’t really be much better than this wand, you’d need a primal with correct affixes, or a similar ancient with closer to max damage, to really beat it. Those will be hard to find.
It’s not perfect, but it’s good enough. A really good ancient would be maybe within 5% of a primal, but it’s surprisingly hard to close that last 5% compared to a primal, especially on something with a variable legendary affix.
I’d say this one is worth an aug. A better one will be getting pretty hard to find, and unless you get really lucky, if you play for long enough to reasonably expect to get a better wand, you’ll definitely have some additional augments to burn anyway.
So either you aug it now, because you won’t play enough to reasonably expect to get a better wand. Or you aug it now and get a better wand later and re-aug that wand, because you’ll play enough to both farm a better wand and have some extra augs to burn.
It’s unlikely that you’ll find a better wand without having also played for long enough to have some extra augs to burn too. So in my books, I’d say this is worthy of a 100 or a 110.
Yeah, I need it for speed farming though…although I did switch it to Tasker and Theo on GR90+ where I can’t longer kill everything very fast with Echoing Fury.
Yeah, I have the feeling it will be tough to find a better one in a short time. Plus, getting gem Lv100 wasn’t difficult or super time consuming for me at this moment, plus with extra 500 stats will help me farming even faster and easier in the long run.
