Where is Diablo?

You can’t have a DIABLO game without the Lord of Terror himself…I mean seriously!

Also, + 1 for necro in D4.

He dead. All sorts of dead.

He’s a Lord of Hell, I don’t think they CAN be killed…not permanently at least. Besides, they really need to wipe away the entire D3 storyline, it was beyond awful, and easily the worst part of that game.

Who knows, but RoS ending did inform us that he was released once again. However, whether or not he’ll act in Diablo 4 remains to be seen.

at the end of the game probably, just wait to summon the last rift guardian, young nephalem.

They put his horns on Lilith. You know, California.

Those actually look a bit more like Mephisto’s horns to me.

Diablo will be added in the expansion in Act V :stuck_out_tongue: or summoned in the last act of D4 by Lilith in some way…

Anything can be killed if the writers want them to be.

Sure, imagine waching a Terminator movie without a single terminator in it…

So why not do the same with D4…

Of course Diablo will be back. It’s his game (story).

Just like D2 and D3, he’ll be the end-game boss. Then, in a couple of years Blizzard will release an expansion with a new Act and a new end-game boss to defeat. (Possibly Lilith — as we chase her through the main game, defeat Diablo, and then defeat her in the expansion. I’m only speculating, obviously).

I thought the ending of Reaper of Souls implied all the Prime Evils are free because the Black Soul Stone was destroyed?

No. All Seven Evils were combined when they possessed Leah and emerged as Diablo, The Prime Evil. When Malthael shattered the Black Soulstone and we defeated Malthael, according to Tyrael, Diablo was released… as The Prime Evil. And we defeated him at the end of Act IV.

Oh no…I hope this doesn’t mean we see Diablo’s D3 Design.

Maybe so, honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they saved Diablo for an expansion, but Diablo has always been the end boss of the base game, so we may indeed see him just as you said.

Obviously, I don’t have any inside connections and my statements are speculation based on past experience, as you say.

  • Diablo: Diablo was the end-game Boss. There was no expansion. (Not counting Hellfire, which was put out by Sierra and was technically “…an authorized companion to Diablo”).

  • Diablo II: Diablo was the end-game Boss. In the expansion, Lord of Destruction, Baal became the end-game Boss for Act V.

  • Diablo III: Diablo was the end-game Boss. In the expansion, Reaper of Souls, Malthael became the end-game Boss for Act V.

I’m guessing that, since Lilith is the “teaser” for Diablo IV, we’ll chase her through the main game until we encounter and have to battle Diablo. (Hopefully, the most powerful Diablo to date since he is now “The Prime Evil” and despite how easy he was to defeat in D3). Then, in the expansion, we’ll finally catch up to and battle Lilith… our “Mother”.

Or, perhaps they’ll introduce an entirely new Boss for the expansion end-game… like our D3 corrupted Nephalem Character?

In any event, I’m stoked.

I hope player is Diablo. You thought you are a hero who defeat Lilith and save sanctuary, but end up you don’t aware you are vessel carrying Diablo soul, he using you to collect power all along.

He’ll show up again in a future expansion, along with zombie Cain, force ghost Wirt and born again angel Tyriel! Just you wait…
