Where are the files to save when doing a full reinstall

After attempting to install the latest patch for PCs, it “hangs up” when scanning game files. I believe that I need to do a full “reinstall” of Diablo III but really want to save my character files so I don’t have to start from the beginning with no “experience”. I installed the latest upgrade to my laptop without any issues, but it will not install on my PC. HELP!

Does this help?

All your hero files are stored on the server… they are loaded in game when you launch Diablo III.

If you’ve made some customization (screen and audio mostly), you may want to save your D3Prefs.txt file in the Documents/Diablo III folder.

Does that mean that I can delete the game from my computer and reinstall the game with same log in and password and I’ll still have everything??

Yes. That is the point of always-connected games. You can log in from any PC and still play your characters. The only thing that might need to be saved is the d3prefs file, as I think that has some of your options saved. I don’t know if that includes your keyboard bindings, if you don’t want to set those up again.

But your characters are all saved on their servers, not your PC.

Keyboard bindings are saved on the server, not the PC.
