Diablo 1 is now the only diablo product that is not available on battle.net and it is really strange because it is the original diablo, why not just make a remaster like Diablo 2 had so we can have the complete collection of this franchise which is one of the most iconic ones

I would love that, but it won’t happen. Diablo 1 is sadly a niche title that they wouldn’t stand to gain much, if any, profit from. But I understand the desire. To me, Diablo 1 is an absolute classic, a rare case of the first game in a series having such a solid foundation and well designed systems, as well as surprisingly strong itemization for their first foray. It has major balance issues, sure, but IMO it is unmatched in the series when it comes to its presentation and atmosphere.
I’m also fairly sure current Blizzard doesn’t actually own the license to D1, considering it’s sold on GOG but not on Bnet. Buying it back probably wouldn’t be too expensive, but it would just add to their lack of desire to remaster/remake it.
Personally I rather they spend resources on new games rather than face lifting games that have nothing new to offer.

pretty sure there would be much higher revenue in return than the small budget spent to make the remaster of diablo 1, and that revenue would not end as long as battle.net services are available
and you already have diablo immortal and the upcoming diablo 4 which offer many new things, diablo 1 remaster is just a completion of the collection and it is the only missing one
also diablo 2 is also on gog yet blizzard made diablo 2 resurrection, the same thing they can do with diablo 1, diablo franchise is owned by blizzard
Ohhh Man! If they re-did Diablo 1 and revamped and added some more Multi-player functions and maybe changed some of the drop rates and such and added items that were made up into the pool id be so playing this!

D2 is pretty much better than D1 in every where except atmospheric.
A D1 remake in 3rd person as a 40bucks boxed game would be pretty cool though.
They already remade it for an anniversary… And no, leave D1 as perfect as it is please we seen how awful they remade the Amazon.

But the new Amazon score higher on Blizzard diversity chart for age ( older more points) and looks ( less attractive high point)

I had a “Knight’s sword of the bashing” if I remember correctly. Everything that didn’t die in one shot was almost perma-bashed.

If you are looking for Diablo 1 HD, I have 3 recommendations for you…

DevolutionX–multiplayer through Discord with ZeroTierOne built in. Higher definition mod that includes both vanilla and Hellfire. See Gillian (in town) to put your best items in a stash (much bigger than D 3’s or 2’s by far). *Still being developed further…and is still getting better too

Belzebub’s Diablo 1 HD mod–single-player ONLY with ALL the quests working in the game–even the ones that didn’t make the final cut. Adds waypoints, a main stash (50 pages-10x10 tiles each), a shared stash (for tranfering items–10 pages-10x10 tiles each), Torment, 10 more character levels, more spells, new item classes (rare, set, and crafted), Diablo-2-like affixes on unique monsters, and the different “champion” monster types as well. It also features 6 character classes–Barbarian, Necromancer, Assassin, Rogue, Warrior, and Sorcerer. (No longer being updated–finished.)

Tchernobog’s Diablo 1 HD mod–similar to Belzebub’s, but a multiplayer mod with up to 8 players in a game (through Discord and ZerotierOne). Though it does not have working quests (currently), it has more recent improvements than Bel’s, with one additional character class–the spellblade. It is still being developed as well. (^ I’d recommend this one the most.)
“The Hell 2” is another possibility, but it is a MAJOR overhaul and is a LOT different than the original Diablo you might remember.

If you wish to play D1 on modern PCs Blizzard did a partnership with GoG in 2019.
You can get D1 and Hellfire playable on Win10. Less than $10 if you want a bit of nostalgia
You ever play Nox? Nox deathmatch and capture the flag were the best thing ever. I was rank 1 conjurer for 6 months.

but the whole point of the thread is to have diablo 1 officially on battlenet at some form, like diablo 2 so we have the complete collection, if someone wants in general to get diablo 1 you can just download it from wherever but it is not the same
I would love a official d1 remaster.
Best way to approach this IMO is the way they remastered SC1. However give us all quests and Hellfire content
Yeah, I’d throw good money toward a Diablo 1 remaster.
D1 is a available from GoG, but it crashes to the desktop after a minute or two. It’s a shame because GoG tries to make old games work on newer PCs.
I checked my GoG account and it looks like I bought it awhile back. I think i needed it for the one of the mods.
So I’m absolutely in favor of that. But please include the add on hellfire and please also with a few slight adjustments for handling and comfort and for the classes like shooter or the melee fighters, so that they do not only have autoattack.
Otherwise, D1 is simply wonderful. When you get into the depths, it gets creepier and better with every stage. The mobs are also not wildly jumbled, but well done downwards more impressive and heavier… It has a good dynamic. And Hellfire with monk and the 2 scenarios is also successful and should not be missing. That would otherwise be quite a loss of scope of the game and fun.
