I thought it was supposed to be no change at launch, not “let’s change one of the core aspect of the game, which everyone loves and no one ever complained about”? What’s next? Personal loot? Durability on mercs? Honestly I’m all for fixing bugs that make the game less enjoyable, but fixing “bugs” that everyone love and don’t break the game is simply disgusting. I was so hyped to play D2R, but knowing that I can’t support such a decision and will abstain from purchasing the game.
The game becomes completely unplayable if they resolve a code failure?
Wow, thankfully all those other bugs still exist to make the game stable enough to run.
So basically, you are complaining (in the wrong forum, I might add) that they are fixing a bug that is common to exploit. Am I getting this right?
A bug is still a bug that should be fixed. Just like some of the other “bugs” that still exist.
A bug is a bug, not a feature. Just because something exists doesn’t mean deserves to remain in existance.
Wrong forum.
D3 players don’t care on how D2R developers do to D2R.
Also fixing game bug is a commendation action.
This “bug” was purposely and explicitly left in for over 20 years for balance reasons. If you start fixing up everything that started as a bug but was kept for balance reasons you’re gonna have a very different game with many more problems than you started with. So, let me ask you again, what’s the point of fixing a “bug” which contribute positively to the game’s balance, and that no one ever complained about in over 20 years? Where is the value added here?
If it is, indeed, a balance issue than I guarantee someone complained. Primarily those who feel the need/entitlement to/for advantage.
Someone complains about everything.
Also, if it was “balance” than it would not be a bug – it would be a feature.
Indeed, it isn’t a bug, but a feature. That was the explicit stances of the original development team. Furthermore, with the way that D2 works, every single player benefited from this feature, so every player will be negatively affected. It is extremely unlikely that someone would complain about something that benefits them, and even more so when it also benefits everyone else, so the hypothesis that someone must have complained is highly implausible.
I once got payed my monthly salary twice. I spent a good year trying to get in touch and convince the right people that I had in fact gotten payed a months salary to much. I never touched that extra until after the boss over the economy departement said that while he could see that I had in fact been payed twice, the papers was in order (which clearly was an error) so I gave up.
Bureaucracy is hell.
In your exemple, its a zero sum game and at least one person loses. In the case at hand, everyone benefits.
The principle is the same, you gain something you shouldn’t. That alone is Imo reason to question.
You are right. There’s no point in playing D2R. Or in posting about it on the D3 forum.
Who decides what should and shouldn’t be gained? The game was balanced around it and the original developers acknowledged it as now being an accepted feature.
The devs, clearly. And the word “bug” clearly indicated that it was in fact not intended.
Which is no longer running the show.
So you wanted to vent on the D3 forum about D2R.
the OP’s name says it all!!!
You must be new to the Diablo franchise. Many bugs are simply called Features simply because no one ever bothered to fix them.
Hope so. This is a great feature that will greatly improve endgame multiplayer aspect.
I have no idea which one you mention but, I bet you will still have the same bug at D2 and it will continue to be present after D2R released.
I mean Ethereal bug? Really? What’s bad about fixing that anyway? Different games, different engines, different code, different framework even different platforms as D2R gonna support consoles too. When they re-write the code to optimize it and block any and all backdoors for security measures it’d be a given if they fixed such issues and code handling mistakes. D2R is optimized to run only on Windows 10 as a separate game consist of both initial classic game and expansion pack, while legacy D2: LoD will stay as it is.
If you like the game so much then you must have already bought a copy of D2 classic, go post on their forums but they’ll tell you the same thing. Bugs will be still present over at D2 classic, no need to make a hassle about it.
And again, if you love the game so much buy a legit D2 classic copy, redeem it to your Blizzard account and post on their forums. Here’s the Diablo 3 related discussion and your rant not even remotely related to the D3. If you’re not feeling well to buy a legit copy after 20 years then there are reddit boards for Diablo 2 resurrection which you can post with free account too. Let people enjoy things.
