What? they changed etched sigil?

I havent played for months, is that the leg that cast a spender in ur skill bar every second to the target location of ur channeling skill?? why they made it just twister? why they keep pushing that garbage visual fx skill?

And killed pretty much every viable Wizard build intentionally just to force you into using the Hydra crap.

It’s a dead class.

It is a bad change, no doubt about that. The good news is that it’s only on PTR. We still have a chance to get it changed back before the patch hits live. Energy Twister damage buffs can be added to other items instead. Drop by the PTR feedback forums and share your opinion!

Don’t forget what Barbarians did a few PTR cycles ago, when they saw how removing the new multiplier on Lamentation would weaken their Rend build. They gave mass negative feedback until they caught the developers’ attention. We can do the same thing. I would argue that this situation is actually more important, since the Etched Sigil change actually removes builds from the game. It’s much worse than a simple damage nerf.

To be honest, Sigil/Deathwish as is isn’t a good thing anyway.

But they shouldn’t be changing it unless they have other changes ready to support the builds that will die if it goes live like this.

I tested the Twister Wizard, but I used the Delsere set. I have a full Tal Rasha and Firebird set in my PTR stash. I take it either one of them would do okay or at least better than Delsere with the new Etched Sigil?

EDIT: Nevermind, I tried the other two sets also. Poop and poop. At least with the whole twister set up. Good thing I only play other classes in PTR.

This is a really bad change.

Patch 2.6.10 is live as of Nov 10 and I was utterly dismayed to see the reported changes to Etched Sigil, but I’m looking at the item in game now and it still has the original wording and function saying Arcane Spenders and not Energy Twister. I am wondering was this change dropped, or is the change still impending?

Changes to legendary items usually aren’t retroactive. In other words any etched sigils you had prior to 2.6.10 will remain the same, however any etched sigils you find now will have the newly changed effect of solely buffing and auto-casting energy twister.

LoD Mammoth Hydra was chill and tanky (pretty sure that’s how Bluddshed described it). For those nights when you want to contribute in a group, but not at a frenetic pace. You even had time to sip on your favorite adult beverage. I did say “had” because now they completely pooched it when they gutted the etched sigil. I have no idea what Blizz could have possibly been thinking on this one…channel/auto-cast RIP

Unless you start a new season. Then you’re stuck with a crappy patch

Etched Sigil still works, here is the trick:

Keep it in your stash and roll a DH.

They’ve been trying to murder star pact meteor wizard for quite a while (the so-called Bazooka Wizard I’ve seen mentioned a time or two), that’s also why deathwish and mantle of channeling got a requirement for channeling for a second before they kick in, I imagine.
The problem was the free spenders on the sigil, and they just didn’t want to nerf it right away, and see if they could micro the problem away without killing the sigil. Honestly, if they had just made it so the sigil cast Star Pact meteors at +0 arcane power (basically making it just arcane element base meteor) instead of it doing the mass damage as if it spent the points (without spending them), that would have fixed that build they were trying to kill.

Sigil already did that, the auto starpact meteor that’s casted by either sigil and/or Tal-Rasha doesn’t possess any arcane power empowerment.

Keep in mind that Etched Sigil’s global autocast wasn’t the issue; it was the global damage multiplier offered by both death wish and etched sigil that was the issue with channeling being predominant for our builds, and that includes Bazooka.

As you could tell, I didn’t know/realize the free star pact meteors from the sigil were buffless; I expected the tal rasha set meteors to just be ‘runeless meteor, except different elements’ that probably got bonuses from +Meteor Damage on your gear.

See, with my admittedly spotty memory, I could have sworn they did all their nerfing (or at least the initial 1 second channel tweak to Sigil/Sword/Mantle) of the channel wizard explicitly because they trying to nerf bazooka. I’d like to think someone in the gear department would have realized that the class that has more channeled skills than any other, would inevitably be drawn to builds that use channeled skills, and items that buff that play.
(Aside silly I noticed – at 3 channeled skills, we’re a third of all moves that get buffed by the mantle of channeling, DH is the next highest at 2 (strafe and rapid-fire))

No, the meteors auto-casted by Tal-Rasha 2 piece bonus benefit from their respective elemental runes (with the exception of starpact). They also do benefit from multipliers and modifiers pertaining to meteor.

  • The Cold meteor procced by Tal-Rasha will freeze enemies just as the actual Cold-runed meteor does.
  • The Lightning meteor procced by Tal-Rasha has it’s casting delay reduced, as such it strikes faster, just as the actual Lightning-runed meteor does.
  • The Fire meteor procced by Tal-Rasha is larger and deals more damage than an non-rune fire meteor, just as the Molten Impact rune does.

Yeah, which is where my point comes in with Deathwish and Etched Sigil global damage multipliers being the primary cause for Bazooka.

That’s precisely why we asked the developers to change deathwish and etched sigil’s damage multiplier to only affect the channeling skills, and then buff up all of our other arcane spenders. This would’ve ensured that channeling would be less dominant in our builds and we could use arcane spenders without needing to channel as well.

In short, we would’ve actually have gotten more builds instead of less, like how we did in this patch.

Hate to indulge in thread necromancy but just discovered my favorite build has been trashed into nothing for no good reason at all other than pure arrogance. Uninstall time, will be passing on 4. So irretrievably stupid! Grow a f****** brain you idiots.
